Irons surprise at bookies Hernandez odds

Javier-Hernandez-007West Ham have slipped to 5/1 second favourites in the race to sign Javier Hernandez.

Sky Bet have installed Spurs as 2/1 best bets to grab the Manchester Unietd striker with nobody seemingly accepting that he will be staying at Old Trafford.

As reported here, the Irons have already had one bid of £9 million turned down and that was immediately followed by OT boss Luis van Gaal claiming the Mexican was not for sale.

Since then however, Portuguese side Benfica have entered the fray and according to the Mirror want the player on loan next season.

The Hammers, however, don’t see any reason for the bookies to be lengthening their odds to three points beyond  Spurs.

A source told us: “We have made a bid and are continuing to monitor things very carefully. He remains very high on our target list. These odds surprise us.”

Latest odds for Hernandez’s next club: Spurs 2/1 West Ham 4/1 Aston Villa 12/1 Sevilla 12/1 To stay at United 11/10.

Odds vary at various betting outlets

  1. Old news let pug nose keep him in his reserves,
Sow would be a much better buy,
Would prefer we were 100/1 odds
    Let’s move on

  2. We put a 9million bid in for Hernandez but cant seem to wrap up the Alex Song deal ,unbelievable. Its about time we stop playing silly buggers and get SONG signed up. Everybody forgets how fantastic he was last year. And im sure he will be even better this year.

  3. We haven’t signed Alex simply because he is injured for 3 months with a floating bone in this ankle. Once the operation is cleared up and he’s past fit we will give him the 3/4 year deal he is after. Give the chairman a break, they know what they’re doing.

    • The words plucked from my mouth, with the criticism of the board over the years from the Carroll debacle criticism for not signing Song would be as nothing to that if we did and he was a crock all season. I think they want to be sure about his knees too which is tricky when he can’t even train for over a month.

  4. Lol,why do people always say move on,get on with it.As i said earlier, people were saying exactly the same about Payet.Bloody good job the chairmen didnt listen to these wise words from the fans 😉

  5. Its the bleedin media billy. It can be great, can be a pain in the butt. Now we get daily bulletins on transfer targets, supposed transfer targets, players we aint even actually going for, lol. Then when something doesnt happen within two or three days the chairmen are kicking their heels. The days of reading a paper, seeing an article about a possible target, then not hearing anything again till he signed are long gone.As has peoples patience.Chairmen either have to get their fingers out of their arses & sign the player yesterday or move on,lol, crazy 😉

  6. Yep it’s time to sit back take a deep breath exhale slowly and relax. With the recent signings I’m inclined to trust the two Daves this window and lost in a comfortable armchair and await any developments . I think there may be a couple leaving though if any more come in but we will have to wait and see. Itn the meantime ignore the back pages and read the cartoons.

  7. Not lost in an armchair ….lay in an armchair makes a bit more sense

  8. I would imagine they are reacting to Slav’s press interview yesterday where he stated that they might pick up 1 or maybe two more players but only if they were ‘freebies’ and only if they fitted in with the team. He also said h e is satisfied with his squad, so, as I posted yesterday, unless he is ‘snowing’ us all, then, not only is the Hernandez deal never going to happen, it was never on in the first place

  9. I dont believe all these games played in the media. Why as a manager or club are you going to tell everybody & anybody what you are up to.All just bs to satisfy the media when they ask the questions.
