Irons thumbs down for Italian striker

Fabio_QuagliarellaWest Ham will not be returning for Juventus hitman  Fabio Quagliarella despite widespread afternoon reports the player is on the club’ wanted list.

Speculation started earlier in the day but ClaretandHugh has established there is no chance of the 31 year old being offered a deal.

A striker is high of the club’s wanted list but a source close to Quagliarella said: “There has been no contact nor is there likely to be – we know of no interest.”

The player was thought to be on his way to the Hammers in January but finally turned his back on the move just before boarding a ‘plane for London.

He had preferred to take his chance at with Juve but finished the season with just one goal from 16 games!

Meanwhile, the Hammers are determined to deliver on a pledge to strengthen across the board this summer.

Co-chairman David Sullivan revealed on Friday that the club would have two players in every position competing for places in the team.

And today we were told: “The club currently has about 10 sets of talks going on – they are working hard and expecting things to start being completed over the next couple of weeks or so.”

  1. ‘Next couple weeks’ sort of an upgraded version of the familiar 10 days then we got used to last year.

  2. I’m pleased you dispelled that rumour because I felt that guagliarello was potentially the next boriello on our books

  3. Glad he’s nor coming. Don’t want to be left in a quagmire.
