BBC website pundit Chris Sutton certainly wouldn’t be the greatest gambler as you can see the obvious falling into place before the dice leave his hand!
Sutton wasn’t a bad player but he has become a very predictable pundit and West Ham v Newcastle looks exactly the type of clash for going with the eighth placed team over the seventh despite the latter being at home.
And so it proves after a week when both teams have done the business in Europe with Sutton conveniently forgetting that we now hold the record for the number of unbeaten games by any team ever in Europe.
Instead he concentrates on Newcastle’s Wednesday’s win over Paris St-Germain which he described as a “a hell of a result” before saying Eddie Howe’s side are absolutely flying at the moment.
Maybe he write his piece before the Hammers recorded their 17rth unbeaten win in Europe as their pedigree gets better and better.
He declares: “West Ham were another team in European action on Thursday as they went to Freiburg so we will have to see how they contend with that, but this has the makings of a really good game.
The Hammers have started the season well too and are above Newcastle in the table, and this feels like it will be close… but I am going with the team in the hottest form.”
Sutton’s prediction: 1-2
Claret and Hugh prediction: 2-1
