Is £45m Kilman worth it?

West Ham’s ongoing effort to sign Wolves defender Max Kilman has taken on a life of its own, even becoming the subject of memes. Our recent £30 million bid was turned down, underscoring manager Lopetegui’s resolve to secure Kilman.

However, one might wonder if West Ham’s focus on Kilman is turning into an overzealous quest, reminiscent of David Moyes’ pursuit of Harry Maguire last season.

Kilman, is decent enough and at 27, is at the peak of his career. His performances have been commendable in the Premier League, and his addition could certainly improve West Ham’s defence, which has been notably porous.

Yet, Wolves’ £45 million valuation seems excessive. West Ham has already seen two offers declined, and with only about £50 million reportedly left in the transfer budget, making a substantially higher bid seems improbable.

Lopetegui might need to consider other options, as securing Kilman could consume a large portion of his budget. Negotiating a lower fee should be a priority but Steidten needs to be on the case with a list of alternatives.

No, stop wasting time and move on to other targets.

Why pay so much money for an English player who has never played for England (unless you count 25 appearances in futsal)? Surely the money could be better spent elsewhere.
