Italians get ‘hands off Oggy’ warning

Oggy ...on his way back!

Oggy – a Hamers stayer

An Angelo Ogbonna  move to Sampdoria after two years at West Ham United -as being speculated in the Italian media – is about as unlikely as it gets.

The rumour has emerged in the Il Secolo XIX newspaper, Ogbonna is the prime candidate on Sampdoria’s wish list should Milan Skriniar join Inter in a £12 million plus player deal.

However, having plied his trade at the highest level in Italy at Juventus ahead of a move to the Hammers two years ago a move to Serie A minnow Samp would hold no appeal for the Irons central defender.

And even if it were to, with wages generally 20 – 25 per cent lower in Italy than the Premier League, there is no attraction at any level for Oggy to move on.

He managed  26 competitive appearances for the Hammers ahead of his season ending injury in the last campaign and was one of Slaven Bilic’s first signings at the club following his arrival.

A Hammers source told CandH: “He’s very settled at this club and is a key player – no deals will be done.”
