“Its a mindset Problem” | Fullkrug gives it both barrels

Centre forward Niclas Fullkrug didn’t hold back in the SkySports after match TV interview. West Ham threw away a lead and very nearly the game after leading against the Premier league’s bottom side. Whilst the inevitable criticism gets aimed at the Manager, Fullkrug was clearly furious with some of his team mates for their contribution to the surrender.

I’m just angry. we didn’t have the ability or the motivation to push up again- I’m very, very angry that we played like this.

“We scored a goal, and then the next goal kick we just shoot the ball long: We don’t try to play football anymore. We don’t push up any more – we just sink.

Half of the team try to score again and the other half just defend very deep. And that’s not the way to works. we have to find a togetherness.

The coach is very clear as to what he wants. But everyone has to do it.”

Whilst Fullkrug is not going to make any new friends inside the West Ham dressing room with his direct criticism, in his mind today’s failing was not through lack of input from his Manager:

The coach is very clear as to what he wants: But everyone has to do it”

West Ham’s Striker was visibly upset about the performance and showed an admirable commitment to the cause that many had doubted. Evidently there is much to be done to bring the whole team along into a similar mindset.

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970.. Don't take my comments too seriously, imagine we are having a chat at half time over a pint at L S and "let's disagree without falling out".

I was one whi kept digging him out purely for the money we payed for a 30 year old injury prone player..but after what he said …I’ve alot more respect for him ….he was bang on.. shame we got hsf the team just picking wages up and don’t give a fk ….i don’t think next year will be better with the cryptic clues coming out the club…you can tell they won’t invest all the money if we sell our best players ……AND THEN GO AND BUT SOME SOTON PLAYERS ON THE CHEAP …🤣🤣 future looking great ffs

Get him back to full fitness and make him captain…he’s only saying what we all know…

More power to Fullkrugs arm. We need some honesty about how poor we are. He’s also putting in a solid shift on the pitch.

Kudos to Fulkrug for speaking his truth!
He seems like an intelligent, thoughtful man with knowledge of football (His fathers a coach and grandfather played professionally), so I hear his words as valid.
I imagine one day, he’ll be a head coach somewhere.

It seems this season, that West Ham follow 1 good performance, with a poor performance.

Whilst I think it’s good to see someone with some backbone speak his mind,. We can now blame the players for not following the managers ideas. Cast your mind backs about 5/6 months and everyone wanted the last manager out because they (the players) weren’t implementing his plans and had stopped listening to him. Whilst I’m not standing up for lazy prima-Donnas. Maybe they don’t believe the manager knows what he is doing. If it was acceptable then why is it not under Potter

Well Füllkrug is being honest we can’t disagree , it’s clearly not Potter . Lack of effort and hard work from a number o players . Not good enough , at least Potter will know who needs to be moved on poor attitude of some players . Well done to Fullkrug for speaking up let’s hope his team mates listen and react .

who’s calling him Halfkrug now? whilst i agree with him completely, some of our fans should stick their hands up and apologise to him.
    HALF-FANS!

  • Phil Baker says:

Can only apologize to Fulkrug , his performances have shown true heart and clearly his blood is running claret and blue .

At last a West Ham player who tells it like it is and is prepared to show how much he cares about our performance and winning! That’s the passion that’s been missing from so many individual players and collectively as a team. Never mind all the usual excuses get Fullkrug to do some of the team talks and be prepared for fireworks but this is what we want to see, someone who actually is prepared to stand up and say it like it is for once even if some players don’t agree. At least show some bloody pride in our badge and our traditions representing our club.

He is correct, it is a mindset problem. Winners think and act like him, but sadly a lot of this squad do not.

I like Potter and want to see him do well, but it’s not unreasonable to have expected to have seen better performances by now even if the results are the same. Im trying to be balanced, he has had a lot of training time compared to clubs playing in all competitions, you would have hoped this would have borne some fruit in developing a robust pathway to steady improvement.

I just hope time and patience will pay off, but I think like eveyone has been saying…. A total overhaul of mindset across the on field and off field staff at all levels is required. I doubt there is any appetite though to see through that level of change. West Ham tend to always focus on what they think are quick and easy wins, but we all know sustainable success comes from long term planning and execution.

Here here…..the blokes got some balls….somebody inside at last telling the truth…

  • Mr Buddy Lurve says:

It doesn’t matter if he makes friends in the dressing room or not. They’re not there to make friends – they’re there to work hard and win games. It’s something a lot of them see to have forgotten, and they’re welcome to leave in the Summer.

Fullkrug is a pro, and our squad could learn a lot from the way he holds himself and plays. My U15 lads team move the ball faster than we do – it’s embarrassing, and something Potter must surely see when he watches games back.

Coufal is done. The gulf in class, and forward play was evident today. Great servant, but along with Soucek, it’s time to say goodbye.

Because if we don’t say goodbye to them, and a whole bunch of others who clearly can’t be arsed, then why should Fullkrug and our better players hang around? They have a short career to try and win things, and West Ham is a festering sore of a club at the moment.

JUST MOVE THE BLOODY BALL QUICKER!!!!!
