It’s Kouyate by a landslide

Kouyate set to continue in right back role

West Ham fans have sent a clear message to Slaven Bilic on their preferred midfield option following Pedro Obiang’s departure for the rest of the season with injury.

That was a second hammer blow for the team after Angelo Ogbonna was ruled out of the campaign several weeks ago and the Irons went into the transfer market for Jose Fonte.

However, that can’t happen this time around with the window closed and as a result  ClaretandHugh asked its followers who was heir preferred player for the the centre of park.

We assumed that given the injury problems, Mark Noble would automatically return and asked which of Cheik Kouyate, Edmilson Fernandes or Havard Nortveidt should partner him.

Given that the manager had pulled Kouyate out of midfield to partner Fonte at the back when Winston Reid exited with injury against Leicester City it is obviously a possibility that he could see him as a regular at the back.

But those voting gave Kouyate the overwhelming verdict to remain in midfield with 71.9 per cent of the vote (909 ) going his way.

A total of  324 votes (25,6 per cent) went to eidt was the best option.

Voters numbered 1,265

  • Mr Buddy Lurve says:

Kouyate & Noble in CM, with Collins & Fonte at the back. They’ll need Kouyate’s pace to make up for their lack of it…

If either is injured, Kouyate drops back and Fernandes comes on.

If they’re fine, give Nobes 60 mins then bring on Fernandes for the final 30.

I’d totally forgotten about Nordtveit before this post…

Shame we can’t get Oxford back.
