Hammers right-back Vladimir Coufal has become the latest player to join the Julen Lopetegui fan club by claiming the club is a ‘New West Ham.’
The Irons squad appear to be lining up to praise the new head coach, and a familiar theme keeps emerging. Mohammed Kudus, Lewis Orford, Lukas Fabianski, George Earthy, and now Coufal have all praised the intense and technical training sessions provided by the former Real Madrid manager and his coaching team.
Despite Coufal’s role seemingly being up for grabs, he is clearly enjoying a new lease on life under Lopetegui.
“We have a new style, and hopefully, we can be successful with the new manager,” claimed the Czech defender. “This is only my third day here, and from the sessions, I can see it is very intense. The manager wants to play really high, he wants to press, and he wants to be on the ball the majority of the time, so it’s perfect, and hopefully, the boys will like it as well as I do.
“I love to press high, I love to do everything as a positive person, and that’s exactly what suits me. I believe it will, so we can call it a new style of football, and we can see a new West Ham.”
I’m really looking forward to see what our new head coach(I nearly put down manager!) brings to the table but all this praise will be worth nothing if we don’t see the results on the pitch.
I hope Coufal stays. We had years of RB problems until he came. But it has to be acknowledged that his lack of pace can be a weakness in some games. Ideally, I’d like him to play in rotation with the incoming guy, according to what’s required for a given match.
Totally agree, very underrated and in many cases unfairly criticised by some.
I think Coufal is perfect for Loppy’s system. Our most underrated player IMHO. Vlad the impaler rocks. We need to bring in another RB, but I don’t think they are guaranteed to start.
I love the nicknames coming up for our new boss😊
I’ve been trying to work out how to pronounce his name since I heard of him, and it seems a bit like Lopety Guy.
I don’t think J-Lo really suits him: probably doesn’t have the legs, and I doubt he can sing.
