Well, it’s official—Łukasz Fabiański has re-joined West Ham on a one-year contract, replacing the outbound Wes Foderingham.
The news was first revealed by ExWHUEmployee on his Monday night update, and now the Hammers have officially announced the signing.
Personally, I think this is a smart move. Bringing back a keeper who knows the club inside out provides not just stability, but also an excellent sounding board for new signing Mads Hermansen. Sure, the squad’s average age may creep up again, but who cares? As long as the club don’t try to pass this off as some “exciting new signing,” I’m all for it.
Fabiański was only released by West Ham in June and will now likely slot in as third-choice keeper behind Hermansen and Alphonse Areola. And judging by the first three games of the season—when the Hammers shipped 11 goals—Graham Potter might have been tempted to stick all three between the sticks in the ultimate “park the bus” move. But all joking aside, welcome back Lukasz.

West Ham boss Graham Potter said “We are really pleased to have Łukasz back with the group, it’s the ideal signing”
Fabianski is buzzing
As for Fabiański himself, he couldn’t hide his delight:
“I’m really, really, really happy to be back because this club obviously means a lot to me and the people here as well. Seeing them again felt nice and beautiful.
“I’ve always been, and I will be for sure, a player who puts the team above personal goals. Maybe people see me as a good person to be around, a good person to have in the squad in terms of what I bring. It’s not just about me, it’s about the team.
“I’m here to support, to keep standards high. I have huge experience, so I think it can be useful. For sure, I’ll continue to work the way I always have—hopefully at a good level—but at the same time, I understand my role is now completely different.”

Wes was a solid standby appointment. No misunderstandings or promises with that one. Mads was a today and tomorrow signing. Allowing Lukasz to find something else was sympathetic to his position.
As it has transpired, Wes had an attractive offer to play football elsewhere. Wrong to block his departure. We need a Wes replacement. Another solid standby appointment. Lukasz is very pleased to fulfill that role and we are very pleased to have him in that capacity.
All very realistic and above board. Brilliant manoeuvres from all concerned.
This style of thinking and action is to be applauded and hopefully sense continues to be at the forefront of team business and playing as we progress through the coming months and on.
COYI
It should not have been necasary. He should never have been let go unless we had signed a top class keeper . The money should and could have been used to get a striker or centre back . Total mismanagement all round .
Welcome back Lucasz! We missed you. Yes, you are a good guy to have in the team, the squad and generally around the club. Oh, and you are definitely a good goalkeeper too!
It shows how clueless Potter is. And they are lucky that Fabiański is not the “revenge is sweet” type. Other people would have told West Ham to get lost.
All nice and familiar Who’s next Antonio In truth it shows where we are Not top 6 that’s for sure At the end of the day bad planning has put us in this situation re the board
Why did they let him leave then? If fodderingham was leaving ?
Soubds lime the usual wh circus
Wouldn’t be surprised to see him getting regular minutes he is a better keeper than either of the other two, if he can pass his experience onto Mads to give him a better command of his box and improve him as a keeper even better, it also opens the door for Areola to move if he gets an offer he is happy with.
He was the one released player that I would have kept, far better than Wes Foderingham so a good resigning.
