West Ham have officially announced the deadline day signing of Chelsea central defender Axel Disasi.
As reported earlier here – and just about everywhere else – the 27-year-old has agreed to join the Hammers on loan for the remainder of the season for a fee of £1.6m.
Disasi’s arrival comes after West Ham pulled out of attempts to sign Southampton defender Taylor Harwood-Bellis, following the rejection of a £12m bid. The Saints were holding out for £20m, a figure deemed far too rich for the Hammers board’s tastes and budget after a notably frugal January focused on cost-cutting.
Disasi Ready to Fight for His Place
Disasi have barely featured for Chelsea this season and is not expected to be match ready to face Burnley on Saturday. The French international will spend the week training with his new teammates and offered the usual platitudes upon completing the move.
“I’m very happy to be here, to have this opportunity,” said Disasi. “I’m just ready to fight and to play games.
“Everyone knows my situation in the last few months, so I just want to get back on the field, feel the sensation of games and help the team.
“The club has given me the opportunity to show my quality on the pitch. I spoke with all the people here and I felt that they really wanted me, so that’s why I’m here today.”
Everyone can go to bed now . . . that’s all folks.
so if Pacqueta hadn’t left for £35-£38m last week, what would they have done.
only club except wolves to make a profit in this window, even palace invested £105m.
This was a window to prepare for the drop.
two forwards who don’t score, a bang average traore, and a CB who hasn’t played for months because he’s worse than Kilman.
Nuno should walk.
when we go down there is only one person to point the finger at.
SULLIVAN.
I am underwhelmed
We have become an absolute joke of a club.
Being held to ransom by some player who can’t even get a game at his own club, who doesn’t really want to come to us anyway.
Heartbreaking to see where we are thanks to a totally incompetent and fragmented board.
I appreciated the nod to Looney Toons there Conzo.
Disasi was a disaster at Chelsea, inconsistency and high-profile errors ,poor positioning, lacking pace for a high defensive line, and struggles at right-back. will fit in nicely at West Ham for a relegation battle
I fully believe now is the times for all West Ham fans to unequivocally support the protests demanding the removal of Sullivan and Brady from the board.
We had a chance since the arrival of Taty and Pablo to save our season and EPL status. Instead they have continued to take money out of the club and reiterated their pathetic “we tried” lowball bids and asset stripping.
NO MORE BS
He’s replacing Igor as a squad filler. He aint fit and womt play. Kilman will start against Burnley and with Mavro we will be highly vulnerable at CB so I expect us to lose.
Needed a new quality cb on jan 1st ready to go straight into the first 11
Feb 1st get a guy of suspect quality and commitment who wont be ready for weeks to start a premier league game.
Absolute joke of a board.
