It’s Official – West Ham Confirm Bizarre Transfer Rumour is True

As West Ham transfer rumours go, this has to be one of the weirdest, as revealed by ExWHUEmployee yesterday.

In his Monday update, the Hammers insider reported that Łukasz Fabiański could be set to return and replace Wes Foderingham as West Ham’s third-choice goalkeeper.

West Ham have since confirmed that Foderingham has joined Cypriot First Division side Aris Limassol on a permanent transfer. The former Sheffield United keeper remained an unused member of the Hammers squad since his arrival in June 2024, so nobody can blame him for leaving East London in search of first-team football.

Fabianski could return to West Ham

However, the potential return of Fabiański would be an intriguing twist in the goalkeeping soap opera that has plagued West Ham all summer.

Goalkeeping version of EastEnders

The merry-go-round has already seen the club break our transfer record for Mads Hermansen, only to drop him after a Roberto-like display against Chelsea. A deal was agreed for Brazilian stopper John Victor, before he was left scratching his head in an airport departure lounge as West Ham pulled out of the deal.

The Hammers then went back in for Victor on a loan basis, only to find Botafogo would no longer deal with the Irons hierarchy.

So perhaps it’s no surprise that the goalkeeping drama at the London Stadium looks set to continue a little while longer.

Most fans havent got a clue then.Theres a reason no one else wanted him as he is finished at the top level

Fabianski was the released player that I would have kept.

Hi gonzo. I wouldn’t agree with your wording he was dropped. We all know that for cup games the 2nd goalkeeper gets to play. If he hadn’t played against forest then your wording would have been correct.

  • Jay says:

“Dropping” Mads after the first two games hardly qualifies as a drama. If he won the Man of the Match award in his first two games he still would’ve been “dropped”, as West Ham, like most teams, play their second choice keepers in the early rounds of the League Cup. Mads was straight back in for the next league game.

Terrible management planning to let him go in the first place THEN WE ARE W HAM

  • HammerDan says:

Sure must be a view to him staying g long term asa goalkeeping coach??

  • Martin B says:

He was always a training ground keeper , we all knew this ….this site even wrote about it a few times if I remember correctly, no loss bring fab back and mikey too

  • Steve1 says:

Gonzo, if Mads had been dropped, as you state, he would not have returned for the Forest game.

Our second choice keeper came in for a cup match, a format that West Ham has followed for a number of years. Why try to make it something that it wasn’t?

    • Eddie says:

Not sure Hermansen was “dropped” for the cup game as Hammers tend in recent seasons to play a cup goalie usually their 2nd choice
