After more twists and turns than a twisty turny thing – and despite many on the forums this weekend blowing their top with understandable frustration, West Ham United’s least -secret signing this summer is finally confirmed.
The right back Aaron Wan-Bissaka put pen to paper today to sign the contract, thus concluding his his successful transfer. This following completion of the financial formalities by his former club Manchester United’s over his loyalty payment. It seems that Man U and their payment arrangements to the player and agents had been the sticking points. All resolved now and AWB is a Hammer!
Fair to say – and important to highlight – that the player has not been the one holding things up, rather that the Red Devils appear to have been the party who have been trying to duck the issue over payments due to him.
Wouldn’t have been West Ham, would it, without the final drawn out ‘did he sign, didn’t he sign’ controversy last night with Fabrizio Romano and ExWHUEmployee offering conflicting twitter / X posts. Claret and Hugh’s Sean Whetstone clarified the situation late on, and all parties appear to have agreed just today that the deal is finished.
Wan Bissaka has put pen to paper on a SEVEN- year contract at London Stadium, price agreed believed to be in the region of £15 million.
He joins us in time to be registered in advance of West Ham’s opening fixture against Aston Villa in the new Premier League season this coming week end.
However much we have loved having Czech Vlad Coufal at the club, it was clear from last seasons dreadful 74 goals conceded that upgrades were needed in a Swiss-cheese defence which was one of the worst in the Premier League.
Wan Bissaka comes with a reputation for being an excellent tackler and rock solid defender – just what is needed to continue the Lopetegui revolution.
Another day, another signing, at least that’s what it’s getting to be like…
This ones been a saga but it’s another good signing.
I hope this all gels quickly.
Yes, I just read it on the West Ham United website too. The best place to find out!
Ah yes, was nice to beat them by 10 minutes tho 🙂
One-Bissaka is definitely better than No-Bissaka. 😁
Vladamir Coufal is a credit to himself and our club .
I hope he stays and competes for the staring berth.
Many thanks for the update Martin. Another excellent signing.
You’re very welcome.. had it all ready to go, waiting most of last night!
COYI!
We’re getting what we wished for? Can’t wait to see the team in action, coyi
Brilliant signing. Really pleased it’s finally done.
It’s tempting to say “we should tell them to stick it up their xxxx” with other clubs having varying histories on and off the pitch with our beloved West Ham but where a deal can be done negotiations need to remain open. Note every deal is a cakewalk. Well done on staying in the saddle.
Welcome AWB. I look forward to left wingers getting ****ed off and having to switch.
Really great signing , AWB improves is immediately, wish him well ⚒
Is it a 5 year or 7 year contract?
5 I think
Only Sky reporting 7
Yes, correct, seven years. My error
Weird Number 29 though as Club earlier advised Andrew Irving Number 29
it was, I even went back and just checked my photos. AWB always had 29. Irving will get the message – either he’s out on loan or picking another number!
Good signing hard won. Well done WH.
Julen often likes to play three at the back. Not necessarily every game, but should Wan-Bissaka play on the right of the three, we might see Coufal playing as the right wing back, with Emerson as the left. Gives the head coach a few options in the rotation of our growing squad.
Buzzing with this signing and all of the signings really.
Credit to Tim, JLO and the Board for this window COYI ⚒️
7 years? does that include a 2 year option or something?
if it’s 7 years without an option then surely he’s taken a pay cut, if we agreed to his old wage of 90k/wk then that sounds like we were incredibly desperate to get this one done and AWB had us over the barrel
we need answers, if it’s something like 65k/wk for 7 years then thats a different story and good business, 7 years on his old wage would be insane – maybe we are banking on insane inflation…
There’s only Wan Wan Bissaka!
