Aston Villa forward Jhon Duran is still eager to secure a move to West Ham United this summer, according to reports from Sky Sports.
The transfer talk for Duran seems to have slipped to the back-burner in recent days but Sky are now suggesting The Hammers interest is far from over.
The Colombian striker has struggled for regular first-team opportunities at Villa Park and is keen to revive his career elsewhere. West Ham have long been admirers of the young talent and are believed to be in the process of making a concrete offer.
With Danny Ings and Michail Antonio failing to consistently deliver last season, the Hammers are in desperate need of attacking reinforcements. Duran’s pace, power, and potential make him an attractive target for manager Julen Lopetegui.
However, Aston Villa are expected to demand a significant fee (£35m plus) for the 20-year-old, which could prove to be a stumbling block in negotiations.
West Ham will face competition for Duran’s signature, but the player’s desire to leave Villa Park could give them a significant advantage in the race to secure his services.
£35m is twice what they paid, so Villa should take it or leave it!
Sullivan got fleeced over Ings, once bitten twice shy.
Villa will only sell if there asking price is met
They don’t need to sell. Him so I can’t see a take it or leave it offer being excepted
Duran would be a great signing and investment. I don’t understand why we’re not looking for young player’s from Championship side’s, one such underated player is Jobe Bellingham from Sunderland, has a lot of similarities to his brother and could thrive around better quality player’s and would develope under Lapetegui. Far better option than younger players from Europe and South America unable to adopt to a different culture and the demands of the premier league.
As far as I read there is no competition for his signature,he wants to join West Ham! I think Duran will need to put pressure on Villa to sell at a reasonable price.
£40m is reasonable, he’s worth every penny. The only reason he isn’t starting is because of how good Watkins is, he’d be first choice at most clubs. As a Villan I’d rather keep him than sell him cheaply.
Villa don’t need to sell him and are happy that he stays
