Claret & Hugh can confirm that West Ham have indeed made a renewed attempt to sign Lille striker Jonathan David on a free transfer.

The confirmation comes after we made enquiries through our top transfer source, who verified the Hammers’ interest in the Canadian forward.

This follows speculation this morning claiming the club had made an offer that was ‘irresistible’.

Before anyone gets too carried away, C&H has been told that any bid is unlikely to succeed, given the number of clubs that have submitted offers to the player’s representatives.

When we asked if an improved offer had been made, the source said, “Yes, but it’s unlikely to succeed.” This was supported by a second source, who also confirmed West Ham’s transfer interest but laughed off the ‘irresistible’ claims.

What is clear is that West Ham are chasing David, which surely means there will be no renewed attempts to extend Evan Ferguson’s stay at the club.

During a conversation with a top club source over the weekend, it was relayed to C&H that there was no certainty Niclas Füllkrug would return to the Bundesliga this summer. This only further reduces the chances of Ferguson staying at the London Stadium after what can only be described as a failed loan.

I believe…..I’m sick and tired of these crap claims that this and that ā€˜might happen’ and him or him might join the club.
Speculative journalism is getting right on my nerves.
Every time I look at google, it seems that something fantastic has happened.
It’s all crap news that never comes to fruition.
Pack in it now, its annoying and it’s boring.

If there’s no chance of getting David why the hell do we keep putting in bids Sullivan again saying we tried . You have to laugh at us as a football club absolutely embarrassing.

  • B says:

Maybe Jonathan David’s agent is looking to drum up some business/interest in his prised asset?

  • Dutch Courage says:

Sounds like a classic Sullivan – We tried

  • Zahama says:

Let us judge Ferguson’s loan at the end of the season – we have had enough negativity over the past two seasons – let us give Potter a chance and see what his plans are – for Ferguson and other players

With JLo I felt that he had no plan what he was trying to do – at least with Potter I feel that he does have a clear idea

Agreed, we don’t know if Ferguson is worth a big investment at this point.
Give him time/opportunity to prove his pedigree.

I believe ‘J-Lo’ did have a plan (Which was NOT to look like a chump), but it wasn’t the same one as Steidten, and on the pitch, the team didn’t seem to understand what J-lo’s was….?

Unlikely to find out what Ferguson or Guilherme pedigree is whilst sitting on sub bench.
