With the England national side’s World Cup qualification all but secured, pales’ minds no doubt get focused on booking themselves a seat on the plane for the summer ’26 tournament. Hence a story today concerning former England Striker Ivan Toney – currently polling his trade in the Middle East after taking the Saudi dollar.
Claiming their ‘exclusive’, footballinsider247.com reveal that the former England and Brentford hit man is wanted in a winter loan deal at London Stadium:
Ivan Toney is definitely on West Ham’s radar,” Football Insider reported. “We know they’re going to need a striker because the ones they’ve got aren’t good enough.
Ivan Toney could – apparently – leave Al-Ahli in January
“I think he would be a good fit in their team, because he’s strong and physical and always scored goals, and that would suit him as well if he could play like that. When you look at what strikers are available, there aren’t many available out there, and certainly not many with the record Toney has got.
If he’s going to be available on loan, it’s certainly something they’ll be looking at because it seems they might not have too much money to spend on permanent moves.”
The big word here being ‘IF’. Apparently the same report then suggests that England Coach Thomas Tuchel will have a big say on Toney’s future: If playing in the Premier League from January might get him back in contention for the national side ahead of the World Cup, then Toney might be prepared to agitate for a loan deal back to the Premier League.
Quite how Toney’s employers, Saudi pro-League side Al – Alhi might react is not even mentioned. Seems far fetched to me.
Would welcome Ivan as back up. Would make up for missing out on Dion Dublin and Troy Deeney.
Think big. Nuno’s way.
His wages are massive, not a chance unless we sell to fund them for a couple of months…
The truth is we don’t know , IMO we should go for Nuno targets forget Sullivan . He needs to back the manager for once and stop making decions on recruitment. His job is to pay .
