Jarvis deal changed way Irons do business

|

JarvoWest Ham have this morning have confirmed to ClaretandHugh that Matt Jarvis has indeed left for Norwich in what being seen as an early Christmas present.

And it was also made clear that the former Wolves winger – who cost £10.5 million – forever changed the way the Irons do their business.

The switch was first revealed last night and involved a £2.5 million fee to the Hammers who have also lost his wages of around £40k a week.

Jarvis became a fringe player at Upton Park and was given a chance to impress early in the Europa League games this season which eventually helped lead to his Carrow Road switch.

The player was of course brought into the club by Sam Allardyce after prolonged negotiations but last season made just 11 Premier League and two Cup appearances.

A top source told ClaretandHugh exclusively: “There was 18 months left on his contract and there wasn’t a club that would even pay his wages till 5.00pm on transfer deadline day.

“So it’s good business. It was one of the former manager’s poorer buys and after him, Modibo Maiga and maybe even AC was why the board decided to take over transfers.

BFS screwed him about and put the kibosh on his career – good luck to him at Norwich!

He did his best , and to be honest did a good job .. Set up a lot of crosses which resulted in goals .. Reckon we should have kept in on .. But he’s gone ..
We have a smaller wage bill , ok . , perfect ,, so the obvious question is : Do we really need to increase it again ?..
I personally think not ,, let’s not be hasty because we are in 8th and chasing the others a bit . We have payers waiting to return and we should be confident they will produce ,,, otherwise why did we sign them in the first place ! ?.
First the Turkey & Mince pies ,, then Villa . Let’s stuff ourselves .

Some players fit in at clubs, some don’t. You can’t win them all. For every Jarvis or Maiga there is a Kouyate or Cresswell.

Pretty sure the owners didn’t take over the transfers, just had more input.

@marko Thought I’d read he’d done all right at Norwich who are Premiership last time I looked..

He never really did it for us. Tried hard, but wasn’t up to the Prem standard.
Good to get him off the wage bill, which will free up the funds for a loan from abroad in the new year. We are pretty desperate for a goal scorer.
