According to the Nottingham Post, West Ham want Michail Antonio from Nottingham Forest and are prepared to offer a £5m bid as well as a ready made replacement in loaning Matt Jarvis for rest of the season.
The Post claims the Hammers are desperate to land the winger and are prepared to allow Jarvis to move on loan to the City Ground. Forest are unlikely to do business for £5m, having already rejected offers of £4m from Derby County and West Brom in recent weeks. But the inclusion of Jarvis could prove to be decisive if the Hammers are prepared to up their valuation of Antonio. Forest are in no rush to sell, given the restrictions they are working under because of their Financial Fair Play transfer embargo. But Slaven Bilic will help them clear one potential hurdle by offering to pay Jarvis’ wages completely free of charge for the rest of the season, thus circumventing the £10,000-a-week wage limit the Reds must currently work within.
Antonio has scored three goals in three starts and a substitute appearance, following on from last season when he bagged 15 goals in all competitions.
The 25-year-old made his £1.5m move from Sheffield Wednesday last summer. The report claims West Ham will attempt to prise Antonio away from the City Ground, before next Tuesday’s 5pm transfer deadline.
Is this lad better than Jarvis ?
Just spend £10 million on Mose who has Premier experience, and keep Jarvis as back up
£5 million plus Jarvis wages for the year = Mose,s nearly,
Stop messing about putting bids for players that are going to be turned down so you can tell us it’s not your fault,
Yilick is not coming so take the Spud on loan we only have a couple of weeks for A C if we can get someone to put his shoes on for him,
Jarvis cost us 10 million a few years back and this boys only 5 million. Great bit of business.
