New Jenkinson loan deal moves a step closer

Arsenal have left Carl Jenkinson out of their squad for a pre-season trip to Singapore – clearly signalling the 23-year-old fullback may be available on a loan deal for the start of the new season.

Jenkinson spent last season at West Ham and became a firm favourite with the fans, making a total of 32 appearances for the Hammers.

The right back has three years remaining on his current Emirates deal, and it’s understood the Gunners are considering fending off interest in one of their brightest youngsters by offering him a new, long-term contract.

It’s been mooted that the FA Cup winners will hand Jenkinson a substantial pay rise and extended contract before loaning him back to West Ham.

The England Under-21 star, who returns from his holiday in Cyprus later this week, has also been linked with Sunderland, Southampton and Everton in recent weeks.

But Jenkinson has his heart set on remaining in London and, if Arsene Wenger does decide to loan him out again, he’s keen to play at the Boleyn during the club’s last season at the famous ground.
