Jenks loved new role

jenkinson1Carl Jenkinson is a naturally attacking defender and relished in the wing back role he was handed at Swansea yesterday.

It certainly didn’t detract from his defensive duties and he made some superb interventions but he admits he thoroughly enjoyed the new role.

With the Irons playing three central defenders both he and Aaron Cresswell were pushed forward and were told to get forward whenever possible – the effect was clear top see as at times the home side were stretched to the limits.

And afterwards he told www.whufc.com: ““I really enjoyed playing in the wing back role. The first half we were quite restricted and I didn’t have too much of the ball in the attacking third so I was playing more like a full back.

“But in the second half the game opened up and I was able to get forward more.It was different and I enjoyed it because it gave me the licence to get forward.”

He added: “It was just a shame we couldn’t keep them out in the second half. It was a disappointing goal to concede, but onwards and upwards. It’s not a bad point by any means.”
