Jhon Duran | Aston Villa Name Their Price To Sell – Report

Image for Jhon Duran | Aston Villa Name Their Price To Sell – Report

With eleven goals so far across all competitions, Jhon Duran looks to have been ‘the one that got away’ from West Ham in the summer window – we may never know the full details but allegedly the Hammers could have signed him for £40 million, and for whatever reason baulked at the finishing line and re-focussed on Niclas Fullkrug instead. The rest is Hammers history, the crossed Hammers image and all.

Of course he scored against us and went on to be a huge Villa success.

He has just been linked with a possible sale to Paris St Germain – no less- and Talk Sport have stated the asking price that Aston Villa have slapped on the Columbian in anticipation of an offer from the French giants.:”

The hype surrounding the 21-year-old has now sparked interest from French behemoths Paris Saint-Germain, [talkSPORT understands] It is also believed Villa could be tempted to part with Duran for £60million.”

Sixty million for a twenty one year old with an attitude – way out of West Ham’s league. We will no doubt watch on as this story develops and wonder what might have been – whilst silently hoping Niclas Fullkrug smashes in a dozen goals between now and the end of the season!

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days - sometimes- have to admit I have not renewed my season ticket... I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970..
Favourite player - Dean Ashton: Still watch YouTube repeats of the Cup Final of 2006 hoping in vain that Shaka Hislop grows six inches and stops Steven Gerrard's injury time equaliser. Can tell I'm getting old knowing I saw both Mark Noble's debut and his last game at West Ham.
Pulling on a Claret and Blue replica shirt still makes me feel the same butterflies as when I was seven years old. Magic.

JL blew a massive hole in the transfer budget by paying £40m for a £20m CB in Killman .. Fingers pointed everywhere as to why we didn’t get Duran, but I’d say that was a factor

  • Lance Marsh says:

At 60 million this boy a bargain. If Grealish fetched 100 million we’d have a young, ambitious, quick and on the evidence reliable striker who’d be worth that in a year or so.
Attitude? Antonio, DiCanio , Tevez, McAvennie, Payet, Ince, Arnautovic, Dicks, Defoe, all had attitude of one form or another but they all lifted the team.
We could go spend another 30 or 40 million on an upgrade for Fullkrug but to be top six you’ve got to dream big.

Villa fan here in peace. There’s no way Villa are selling for £60m now. He’s a 21 year old who will score 20 + this season, and has 5.5 years left on his contract which was only signed a couple of months ago. Maybe in the Doug Ellis days it would have been allowed, but not under the current custodians. I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a £100m buyout clause in his contract either.

I’d have driven him to you myself for £40m in the summer, but times have certainly changed since then!

  • Phil Baker says:

Steidten was tasked with signing high line possession players and a coach to do the same . Sullivan blocked him and forced the Lopetegui / Fulkrug disasters . The DoF must be trusted to manifest a coherent coach/player combination . 60 million for Duran , buy him now , still good value .

    • Graham Watts says:

Not a chance in signing Duran as we are already close to FFP ceiling and a risk of points deduction. In the summer Villa we’re just playing us along and never intended to sell Duran

  • Morty says:

Seems a little over valued to me, can’t see PSG paying £60m. Probably just a newspaper made up story

    • Dave says:

By you saying £60 m is too much for a guy that’s just turned 21 has 16 goals in all comps this season that tells me you’re out of touch with modern football. Man Utd paid close to 80m for hojlund who is awful

  • John Ayris says:

We were too tight to pay a bit more for Duran in the Summer window, we’d be a kings ransom in now if we’d bought him plus we’d have a decent player…

We then went and bought Fullkrug as a cheaper option and somehow Steidten gets the blame for that. The blame lies with whoever decided not to pay a bit more for Duran because without that Fullkrug would not have been needed.

And that wasn’t the worst decision at that time, the worst decision was to appoint Lopetegui who has failed comprehensively.

Awful, awful, decisions, we’ve made our own problems.

    • Sid says:

I was on here in the summer and told you several times that it wasn’t happening at the money that was being talked about. Today’s value has obviously increased but the 60m isn’t correct, it’s being used because of the PSG forward who they want to use in a deal. Villa aren’t interested in a swap and nor is anyone at VP trying to sell JD, in fact it’s the opposite after getting him to sign a vastly improved contract. That could all change if a massive offer came in but 60m isn’t anywhere near enough to make Villa blink.

  • John Lattimore says:

For God’s sake let’s forget about Duran!!

    • Sid says:

Agreed, you need to let it go. Sullivan & co blew their one chance as with respect to WH, a club I like other much bigger clubs are now interested, however he’s not leaving VP anytime soon.

      • Dave says:

West Ham will regret not paying the asking price just like spurs when they could have got Jack grealish for 20 million. But wouldn’t meet the asking price

  • Jimmy Durano says:

Are you lot still crying about Duran!!??😂 he’s never gonna play for West Ham, he’s an idol at Villa and is smashing goals for fun. He’s being linked to the top clubs in europe. We’d take Kudus, Bowen and £40m

    • John Ayris says:

Typical halfwit visiting moron. Kudos and Bowen both worth more than the £60M the article says Duran is worth…

    • Mr T R says:

‘Jimmy Durano…… It’s really sad to see how lowly you think of yourself to come on here to post a pathetic comment like that.

  • Ryan says:

Let’s leave the Duran stories, it’s too hard to read knowing we couldve had this absolute beast but instead went with an injured 31 year old. This ship has sailed, he will never be in a west ham shirt unless he’s over 30 and done.

The west ham way!! Joke club these days

  • Jeeps says:

Is scoring goals but has to much attitude and ego thinks he’s a prima Donna.
Appears to be disruptive and Emery will be pleased to get rid of him.
Whu need team players who create solidarity both on the field and in the dressing room.
Villa are turning the screws for a player they don’t want.

    • Sid says:

100% wrong, I can’t give out any details but I’m close to…..anyway Jhon Duran is very much part of the clubs plans.

  • Stuart Nolan says:

Get rid of Fullkrug Guilherme and Rodrigues and get a striker like Duran pace and natural goal scorer.

  • Thom Ridgeway says:

Make a swap for Kudus, but I doubt Duran would ever want to do a Hammer sign photo stunt again, knowing the freak show West Ham currently are

  • Dave says:

We wouldn’t pay the money when we had it, now we’re skint it could be 2 bob and we wouldn’t be in…

    • Flumpy says:

Villa never intended to sell Duran to WHU it was about getting his face out there and WHU happily advertised him as a potential target which drew attention from bigger clubs all in order to get a new contract and push his value up. No offence he’s never going to sign for WHU he wants trophies and glory. Expect him to goto Europe, NEXT season, somewhere like PSG or Beyern if he stays in UK then Chelsea or Man utd
