Joey Cole set for summer move

jcoleThe Irons  look likely to be bidding farewell to Upton Park favourite son Joe Cole  for the second time this summer.

The 32 year old has had a stop/start season via selection and injury issues and as a free agent is set for a deal elsewhere.

Claretandhugh has learned that Joe is likely to study every option in the summer which will almost inevitably include interest from his mentor manager Harry Redknapp

The Loftus Road boss believes that with the right handling Joe can still make an impact at the highest level and that he would be a good addition anyway should the club remain in the  Championship.

Cole is understood  has been disappointed with various selection issues this season notably when marching down the tunnel after an early substitution against Chelsea at Upton Park earlier this term.

He later made it clear he had no problems at the club but rumours have persisted since that he’s ready to call it a day at Upton Park.

He will be ready to consider a new offer from the club but sources inside the Boleyn have told us that a new deal is unlikely to match his expectations and that the club is “well off for wingers anyway.”

  1. With Petric having left and Cole on a short term contract we have a possible 11 more players who could be out of contract by the end of the season.

CCole, JCole, McCartney, Jaaskelainen, Demel, Taylor, Spence, Potts will all be out of contract.

Collison has a possible 2 option years, Rat has 1 or 2 option years, and Vaz Te has an option year also. I’m not aware if the option years are triggered by games played or if they are club options where the club can select to take up the option of extending the contract or not.

With thanks to http://www.KUMB.com for the information http://www.kumb.com/stats_contracts.php

  2. And the club have just taken up the 1 year option on Vaz Te.

  3. Ok – Vaz Te scored the goal that got us into the Premiership – fair enough, thanks for that – but to me he only seems a Championship quality player!

Why he’s getting an extension I have not got a clue – weren’t they trying to get rid of him in the summer?

Hold on, it just occurred to me – he hasn’t changed his agent by any chance has he?

  4. As far as Joe Cole is concerned – he’s looked a shadow of his old self, it’s quite sad to see and must be very frustrating for the player himself.

Times up for him I’m afraid – sorry to say but sometimes Football is a cruel game!
