John Terry’s big support for Rice

Declan Rice is rightly being promoted as the next big thing at West Ham United.

And he’s gained the support of some exalted company in John Terry whom he grew up under as a member of the Chelsea Academy before switching to the Hammers three years ago.

The 18 year old has been in outstanding form since pre-season began and now looks booked for a place in the squad for Sunday’s game at Old Trafford.

He of course led the Under 23s to promotion from Premier 2 Division 2 last night but looks set to miss their opening fixture against Everton at Dagenham and Redbridge tonight (k/0 7pm) in favour of Old Trafford.

But yesterday he was in the company of a former mentor from Stamford Bridge John Terry during a golf day and the Aston Villa central defender made no mistake of his feelings for the lad as a footballer as can be seen from his Instagram message pictured above.

  1. If he turns out to be as good defensively as Terry he will be some player, certainly has been impressive in preseason and unlike Terry has a real turn of pace and impressive dribbling skills, although Terry has been known to dribble well after a heavy night out so I shouldn’t be too hard on the ex hammer that turned to the dark side.

  2. Very true 32 Rice is good on the ball and dribbling.
At only 18 he is so composed makes good decisions and can play in mid. So having him in middle of back 3 would work great.
I really hope he gets a real chance at some games this season above Fonte for me. 18 already Call up for Ireland National Squad and Westley saw the Leadership in him and pulled him up to Under 23s and was Brilliant. By far he was the most exciting for me defensively in preseason.

  3. I bet you didn’t notice Terrys mother in law stealing the cutlery behind them πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
But yes he was a good player , especially away from home πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

    • Not sure it was the mother in law or the mother but then I was probably still under the influence after bumping into his old man at the narcotics anonymous meeting πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

      • It was both ? Wasn’t it , a trolley full of asda specials πŸ˜‚
Yes 32 that was a favourite dealing place of his πŸ˜‚ a nod and a wink and a trip to the karziπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
