We can’t allow Saturday to pass without our mate Gonzo’s view of the game at Ipswich and here he generates a great discussion on what’s going on with Pellegrini’s Hammers.

Ok, today wasn’t quite as exciting as the Villa game  and the Hammers Chat supremo thinks he knows why but as always he wants to draw the fans into the discussion.

Gonzo takes a look at the first appearance between the sticks of Lukasz Fabianski and studies the performances of the new boys with special reference to the opening goal by Felipe Anderson.

Unsurprisingly he sees the sort of link up we saw between the record signing and Ryan Fredericks for the opener as the type of play see can expect to see a lot more of from a Pellegrini side.

With the team plan still being studied by the boss Gonzo takes a stab at the kind of starting we are likely to be looking at this season.

It’s way too early for guesswork, Balbuena is quality, the ball that they scored from was for me a bit like one of those volleys down the T in doubles in tennis, yes there was too much distance between them but I think it was one of those ball where both of them though the other would cover it and ended up neither of them went for it, I think Kouyate and Obiang struggled, Obiang he seems to be playing on the right when generally he plays left cdm which would indicate probably much as you suggested they are not likely to be first choices and may well be sold for better quality replacements, would also agree for me Masuaku was motm made a lot of good runs and looked a threat, Wilshere showed his quality often, Ipswich fouled frequently in a normal game many of their players would have been booked and I don’t think they would have been able to play that game if it had been a PL match.

On the consensus of watching the game and this discussion by Gonzo and co, I think Obiang and Kouyate should be sold or “shipped out ” in my opinion ? Rice and Noble are ok ,but Wiltshire is going to need a protective midfielder for him to make that “killer pass” so we need a experienced holding central midfielder ? Rice is going to be that? Given time ? But if he picks up an injury I don’t see Kouyate and Obiang doing the job adequately any more ? So I think we need to let them two go and go for a decent holding midfielder ???
