Speculation surrounding Jota Silva’s future has reached a fever pitch this week, with reports linking him to a move to West Ham. However, Portuguese newspaper Record throws cold water on claims of a done deal.

Record categorically denies reports of Silva being in London to finalise a transfer with the Hammers. The newspaper insists Silva remained in Portugal on Tuesday, attending a training session in the morning and a fan event in the afternoon. While there may be some level of contact between West Ham and Silva’s club, Vitória de Guimarães, no concrete offer has yet materialised.

Despite the lack of a West Ham bid, Silva remains a coveted player. Record reports Premier League interest alongside clubs from Spain, France, Germany, and the Middle East. This interest is likely fueled by the €20 million release clause in Silva’s contract, which runs until 2025.

The current situation surrounding Jota Silva appears to be more fiction than fact. While West Ham might be interested, there’s no evidence of a formal offer or Silva’s presence in London negotiations. Other clubs are circling, highlighting Silva’s value. Sadly I think we should treat the current speculation with a healthy dose of scepticism.
