Julen Lopetegui is expected to be dismissed today.

West Ham United have postponed the pre-match press conference for their game against Aston Villa, which was scheduled for 1 pm today and was set to feature Lopetegui.

This delay signals the gears turning towards his dismissal. It is understood that Lopetegui will meet with either David Sullivan or Karren Brady this morning to be officially relieved of his duties.

The Spaniard is at the training ground this morning, but the club reportedly hopes to remove him from his position today although he has turned up as normal. A source close to West Ham revealed, “Everyone at the training ground expects the boss to be gone today.”

Lopetegui began saying his goodbyes to staff yesterday, and sources suggest he was aware of the club’s intent to replace him before their match against Manchester City. Lopetegui-described as calm and polite-has thanked staff for their help during his short stint. Perhaps he was just being polite but it all adds up to a man who knows he’s on the way out.

When Graham Potter will be announced is not yet known but rumours suggest he’ll take charge for the FA Cup game against Villa but we’ll confirm as soon as C&H have information.

One word stands out – “RUMOURS” ! Why print rumours why not wait till the facts are known and print those.

  • Fredk says:

Couldn’t agree more with the previous comments. Living in Stratford I’ve been a supporter since 1964 and cannot believe how the board have behaved so unprofessional and undignified throughout this saga. True Jlo was not a popular appointment and his results are the reason for his dismissal but the way it has been handled is embarrassing. So would just like to wish Jlo success going forward and draw a line under the last six months.
So I assume we now have Graham Potter on board. He is not a quick fix merchant, rather a builder of teams so we need to exercise patience, not a football supporter trait unfortunately. So hopefully going forward we can stop whinging and get behind the manager and the team. ⚒️⚒️⚒️⚒️

Westhams conduct is unacceptable in the treatment of lopy. Yes we are rubbish but we were under Moyes most of the time. Do you expect a result against Villa no matter who’s in charge? I expected a result last season against Bristol city but thanks to Moyes that didn’t happen. The easiest most sensible thing would have been to make lopy take time out after his dad’s death and put one of under 21 or 18s in charge to see if there was any improvement. Ironically overall still let les in against the same opposition we have have played this season compared to last season including adjusting for promoted and relegated teams and we are 2 points better of against the same.

  • Hammerry says:

Disappointed with how it has been handled even though I agree with the decision to get rid of him. Let’s be honest every other club does the exact same thing as we did to Loppy, they just hide it better than WHU so all the public sees is a seamless changeover. It’s a shame that so much dirt is in the public eye with this. A lot of other fans and pundits were talking about the treatment of Moyes when he left. I thought DM was treated ok for the most part when him and WHU went their separate ways. As bad as Loppy was, and as obvious as it was that he needed sacking, this whole shambles has not had the level of integrity and professionalism that I want to see in the club I love. Hopefully now Potter will hit the ground running and we can look forward to a strong 2nd half of the season. COYI

The Dildo Brother has done something pretty amazing.

Considering it’d probably be pretty close to a unanimous “Yes.” from West Ham fans everywhere to “Should Lopetegui be sacked?” then for the club to handle it in such a manner that people actually sympathise with Lopetegui is really something to behold.

With Moyes, you could understand talking (effectively) publicly with potential replacements as it was the end of his contract approaching and they knew things would need to be put in place so that was fair play.

Here though, they’ve done it so cack-handedly that many outlets legit thought Lopetegui was already actually sacked two days ago yet he’s still turning up for training and (no doubt) would have faced the scheduled press conference later as well.

Hated what he done in his role and (in my opinion) deserved the sack but have massive respect for him as a person with the way he’s handled the situation. More so with it coming so shortly after losing his father recently.

He obviously won’t read this, but hats off to Lopetegui. Glad to see him go, but happier with how he’s leaving with a bit of class. Something Sullivan should take note of…

  • Martin61 says:

The handling of JLo is not about comparing the club v Loppy, nor whether he deserves to be sacked, which he does.
It is all about the integrity of our club. Part of the West Ham way is how we deal with people. How we act with integrity. Professional. Lack of ego.
S&B have shown a complete lack of class in this matter. Beware what you are getting into Potter and just hope you act in a manner befitting my club ala Greenwood and the wonderful John Lyall.

  • Taffyhammer says:

Thought Potter had just been engaged by PFA. If he is to be our next manager, will that be on a part-time basis? Will he be devoting all of his attention to making West Ham the best that we can be? Always something to do in the role of West Ham manager. Even Harry waited to promote Sandra’s roly-poly and becoming a full-time racehorse owner.

  • Carrickhammer says:

He has to take training this morning or he would be breaking the terms of his contract. B. T. W everyone on this site was complaining when Sullivan did not have a replacement ready when moyes went now this time he has and people are still complaining. just saying

    • B says:

And there you have it Carrickhammer.
This forum has become a dumping ground for ‘complaints’.

But just for today, things are OK.

  • Peter says:

Need a bit of integrity – no excuses are ever adequate. This cannot have been the best of times for Loptegui, but having such problems with various players and being so weak defensivley with a porous and stuttering midfield means it could not last.
I hope in the next few seasons we build and that Potter brings in Academy players on an equal footing to compete for places against any regulars. That has to be the way for this club to gradually progress and represent something we can all feel proud of and get behind. Aim for Europe if we can, but look ahead with the youngsters most of all, before we start yo-yoing again..

    • Patrick says:

What a shocking bunch who are running West ham. I don’t think they could run a bath. They have no idea how to behave totally embarrassing really. Good luck to Julen, after what he has been through. Keep your chin up mate.

  • Richard says:

I don’t think there’s anything too dignified about the way Loppy has carried on. How many times have we lost by 3 goals or more? He’s been less than useless. At best, he should be Leaving by mutual consent” instead of waiting to be sacked. He left Wolves because he didn’t get to sign players he wanted, at West Ham he was backed by big money for (mainly) his choices and look where he got us. Loppy didn’t look good in pre-season and got worse as time went on, should have been shown the door ages ago.

    • Ray says:

You are so right, good to bring a bit of balance here. I cannot believe how blinkered some people are, especially when someone is turning something they allegedly love into a sh*t show. I think a lot of people today would rather align themselves with what is politically correct rather than the truth.

  • Stephen Dronfield says:

all went wrong when Steident turned up .let the manager say who he wants and get Karen Brady to go get them

  • jaybs says:

How has Our Club, been allowed to stoop to such a low level, we are being run, by Amateurs! We have become a complete Joke! This should have been resolved far faster!

  • Steve Clarke says:

Could not agree more Adrian. Our clubs behaviour has been a total disgrace

  • Pop Robson says:

It hasn’t been handled well and it is embarrassing but the reason he is being sacked is because he has been truly dreadful and was the wrong appointment so losing his job is down to Lopetegui.
That said rumours, leaks, are what keeps the Premiership in the media day in day out. Sites like this exist because we have an appetite to feast on news of our club whether it is accurate or not and I believe Sullivan in his own twisted way enjoys the coverage.
I think football excepts and encourages the social media rumour mill and however poor you think West Ham have handled this, is it any different to how Manure handled ten hag’s sacking….answer no so we have to accept the world as it is and Jlo leaves with a damn good payout for failing in his job and we welcome the next manager and begin to dream again!

  • Kenny Irons says:

Sullivan is one classless bum, and all reflects badly on our club.
Maybe in the Porn trade he dealt with similar low life’s so got away with it, but
he shouldn’t be allowed to continue as our Chairman.

  • Gary says:

He should have been sacked after the pre Christmas drubbings and an interim manager put in place…..maybe Nobes ?? until a permanent replacement signed. Now with (hopefully) GP in place and his tactical acumen we will become a more attractive destination for younger inbound transfers. It could also provide rejuvenation to some of our recent arrivals with the shackles removed and ‘permission’ to play their natural game in their natural positions. We certainly have not seen the best of these yet. Fullkrug was
brilliant for Germany at the Euros & likewise Somerville when at Leeds. Maybe if JLo had unwrapped them & removed the packaging we might be higher placed. Hopefully JWP will be recalled & Kudus will be given free to roam status.
Good luck West Ham. Supporter since they won World Cup

    • Smiliematt says:

It’s the usual media circus. All very distasteful. A poor recruitment decision leads to a compensation payout of a few million to a failing employee. He’ll get another job which will probably result in a similar outcome.
The board haven’t covered themselves in glory. I haven’t forgotten the shambles they took on after the Icelandic debacle and will remain grateful for ensuring our clubs financial security. It would, however, be far more palatable had they quietly gone about this sacking.
The incompetence on display was for making a very poor managerial appointment. At least they’re doing something about it… about time!

  • LORD ROBERT VENOUR says:

Agree sully is not a good role model for anyone I’ve supported the hammers for over 60 years and I’m embarrassed to be associated with them at the moment due to the handling of of loppo it’s not a good look for our proud team and supporters sully should sell ASAP and let a genuine owner come in and put club first

  • John Ayris says:

I’m not proud to be an iron today.

Can we really not manage our affairs better than this.

    • Bennyboy baker says:

JLo being sacked in the manner that it’s to come about is a disgrace there is no way that the board should conduct themselves in this manner . Yes I know that the sacking when it happens will be his own fault as his tactics and style of play just didn’t work and I’m still not sure what he was trying to achieve . But the board mainly Sullivan has not conducted themselves with any professionalism. No one should have there private employment status plastered all over social media it was the same thing with moyes there is a correct of doing things which Sullivan doesn’t seem to understand the main problem at West Ham is Sullivan the sooner he sells up and gets out of our club the better while he has the final word on everything progress is going to be limited

  • Elaine John says:

We knew he is going to be sacked but the way it has been conducted is completely unacceptable.

  • Essexiron67 says:

I will be glad when this embarrassment is over, we’ve been in a mess long before moyes went and I believe he is part of the problem we now have ,not increasing squad size etc etc etc . Jlo as we know was never the right man etc etc etc but I’d be ashamed if I was an employer to treat an employee so badly. He could have been gone a long time ago, temp in charge but no WHY. Jlo has kept his dignity, what with dealing with the loss of his father etc ,people noted he didn’t acknowledge the fans at City, if true we now no why ,he’d heard they where looking to replace him before the game . Of course I want somebody to come in and stop the thrashing,s we’ve gotten used to under moyes and jlo but keep your head up jlo and be glad you’ve left this shower behind . What happens if potter doesn’t work will Brady have her husband in her ear if his mate is under pressure ,I was always told work friends an d family is a recipe for disaster, hope not good luck to Graham Potter.

    • LORD ROBERT VENOUR says:

Why is loppo taking training this morning if he is getting sacked does sully know what he’s doing answer NO

    • Capri Runners says:

It is a world of toxicity and greed. Egos get in the way of courteous and respect.

    • Ray says:

“keep your head up jlo and be glad you’ve left this shower behind” Seriously? He created this mess. You live by the sword, you die by the sword.

  • Cubby says:

Knows he won’t get another job in a hurry. If he had dignity he would have resigned months ago .

  • Adrian Herbert says:

It sounds like he is showing significantly more dignity than the Board

    • Ray says:

Like he did with all his little hissy fits with players over the last 6 months, lots of “dignity” on display there.
