West Ham are showing strong interest in highly-rated Mainz striker Nelson Weiper, who recently starred for Germany at the U21 European Championships. That’s the latest update from The Sun who are claiming a three horse Premier League race for the youngsters signature.

The 20-year-old forward played a key role in helping his national side reach the final, where they narrowly lost to England. He scored four goals in the tournament, including a thunderous header in the final that brought Germany back into the game.

Weiper’s standout performances at the tournament haven’t gone unnoticed, with West Ham, Tottenham, and Brentford all understood to have had scouts in Slovakia monitoring his progress throughout.

Weiper was impressive against England

Mainz have reportedly placed a £12 million valuation on the striker, who is widely regarded as one of the brightest young talents in German football.

That said, a note of caution should be added—Weiper suffered a serious knee injury at 18, though he now appears to have made a full recovery.

The forward has been-perhaps lazily-compared to West Ham striker Niclas Fullkrug. In a sense there is a comparison because Weiper is big and German but in reality the U21 star is more mobile than his compatriot.

I liked him when I watched one of the Germany games. Not pacey, but a good football brain. Get him in, give him some time and he’ll do well.

Thought the Viper played well in the U-21 tournament, but that doesn’t mean he got enough to make it in the Premier League.
I’d be very very surprised to see West Ham sign him this summer.

If he’s choosing between those three is he coming to us? Do we have any actual money anyway?

Bull shitt…don’t believe any of this.
All the players you name every single day that we are supposedly linked with will never materialise,
We are tin-pot just like our kit

Like we said, the report is from the Sun as you can see from the link provided. We’ve been quite clear where the story has originated and personally I don’t believe it myself.

Please don’t shoot the messenger, we didn’t invent the story or design the kit.
