A couple of weeks ago, TNT Sports in Argentina reported that West Ham was one of the Premier League clubs with concrete interest in bringing a young Argentine striker to London. Little has been heard since, but interest was renewed yesterday with an enticing, exclusive update published by one source for Hammers fans looking for news of a new striker signing this summer.

What seems like a long time ago but was actually reported on June 13 by Italian, it was claimed that both West Ham and Leicester representatives had held talks over signing the 21-year-old.

After a loan spell at Frosinone, Matias Soule is now back with parent club Juventus but has been the subject of renewed interest since yesterday: Enticingly, the player’s own Facebook page had a cryptic comment yesterday showing him training hard and claiming “We are preparing for what is to come” – which could mean whatever we choose it to mean.

The link with a move to a Lopetegui team is of course enhanced by the common language and makes sense from that point of view. Apart from one claimed report yesterday by specialist in physical therapy Dr. Rajpal Brar, there was little concrete news across various ITK journalists. It’s either very secret—or very old news! We’d love to see the pacy 21-year-old at London Stadium, but it has to be said, do we need another left-footed winger?

Back in June, prices quoted were around £25 million, so he’d certainly be within budget: We will see if this story gathers traction in the coming days.
