Kalvin Phillips update

West Ham United have reportedly electrified the window by securing the coveted loan signing of England midfielder Kalvin Phillips from Manchester City. That comes from numerous sites including the Mail and TeamTalk. But sadly the club in a Phillips update have declared this is not the case… at this stage anyway

Kalvin Phillips update

The manager is a long-time admirer of Phillips and  first attempted to snatch him from Leeds United in 2021 before the former Leeds United star chose City.

West Ham’s commitment to this deal however, remains in doubt this time around as Claret and Hugh was told has been told it would be a highly expensive operation with City refusing to fund any part of the player’s £165k wages. According to out main source he remains just  one of about 20 players the club is looking at.

They will need to see off the advances of  European giants like Juventus and Barcelona were the to push ahead with things which right now seem more than unlikely.
Having said that, a Phillips arrival could revolutionize West Ham’s midfield. His defensive prowess and creative spark will bolster the engine room, providing Moyes with tactical flexibility and options aplenty. Both the Europa League knockout stages and the Premier League run-in would receive a huge boost. His experience could unlock West Ham’s continental ambitions.

Has the feeling of many that went before, if the wages are £165k a week and the loan fee £7m there aren’t many that would pay that in World football let alone the PL

You would need a guarantee of buying at the end of the season at a reasonable rate, when we offered £50m he was years younger and there is no hope of recouping much of what we pay when he is in his 30’s.

He would strengthen us if we can sign him but it’s a big if judging by this update
