According to the Sun on Sunday, West Ham’s bid for Senegalese centre half Kara Mbodj has hit a work permit snag.ย The tabloid claims that although the Hammers are prepared to pay Genk ยฃ4m for the defender, ย the 25 year old can not get a work permit until August.
FA rules mean only players from the top 50 ranked nations are eligible for a work permit. Although Senegal are currently rated 36th in the world by FIFA but outside the top 50 using the FA’s two year average. That will change in a couple of months but West Ham may look elsewhere.
These things get more complicated even if they’re true. How did we get Diafra and Cheik then, were they born in Europe?
Maybe last summer Senegal were rated in the top 50 of this amazing FA two year average so it was easier.Perhaps they dropped out of it after we signed them. But i know nothing so am probably blowing it out of my derriere ๐
