Karren Brady Gets Pay Rise Despite Horror Accounts

The headline loss in West Ham United’s latest accounts didn’t shock many. After all, Claret & Hugh had been reporting a projected £100m deficit for months.

But knowing it was coming didn’t soften the blow of the fine detail.

The £21m interest payments were alarming enough — yet one particular figure seems to have angered supporters more than any other: vice-chair Karren Brady’s pay increase to £1.472m.

This came in a year when club revenue fell, with ticketing, television and retail income all down.

So the obvious question is: why the pay rise?

Timing Raises Even More Questions

Yesterday’s grim financial reading perhaps explains why the hierarchy delayed publishing the accounts for as long as possible.

They knew it was bad news.

There was no way to bury figures that would eventually become public — but there was clearly an attempt to postpone the inevitable fallout.

Under different circumstances, perhaps with the club sitting comfortably in mid-table, the accounts may not have attracted the same level of scrutiny.

But with ownership already under pressure and the very real threat of relegation looming, the numbers carry far greater weight.

Supporters are understandably asking serious questions of the board — particularly David Sullivan — about financial management and long-term planning.

And with further grim news expected in the coming weeks, there’s a growing sense that things could get worse before they get better.

Hammers Chat my first game was West Ham 10-0 Bury . . . seriously!
We than went and bought Bury's central defender 😬⚒️ Irons

Started Hammers Chat alongside my partner in crime Geo back in 2014 and brough in to Claret & Hugh by my old mate Hughie to produce videos a couple of years later.

Give West Ham opinions on Sky Sports News and even did a bit of moonlighting on BBC Football Focus.

Sometimes feature on BBC Radio 5 Live and once ate a biscuit in Tony Gales shed.

Connoisseur of salted caramel doughnuts and I love a Sloppy Giuseppe pizza although I'm slightly suspicious where the name came from.

When I'm not moaning about West Ham I can be found walking a dog that looks like a sheep and tinkering with pinball machines.

Why is it any of our business how much Brady earns? How much do any of you earn? Do you warrant that salary? Do you put any money into the club to be able to have your say as to how much other people who work for us earn?

    Get a grip, people…

So for me she should be made to do 1 job properly not get a pay rise
She is working part time hours if she is doing 3 jobs

I’ve always said that money breeds money. The rich and company executives, not only in football, can pay themselves whatever they want and get away with it. If I failed so miserably in my job is be sacked. There is clearly something wrong with the business model, which is being steered by a hands off captain with no clue on how to run a business. Get rid of Brady NOW!!

And she has the gaul to sit on the Apprentice show and criticize contestants for their performance and lack of capability during the tasks they are asked to undertake . She’d be the first one fired by Alan Sugar if he examined her time at West Ham . She makes Potter look like Einstein
