Keeper deal at stalemate

PSG and West Ham have so far failed to reach an agreement on goalkeeper Alphonse Areola with reports from France saying the Ligue 1 club want a straight transfer fee while West Ham wants a loan with the option to buy.

PSG value Areola, who has a contract that runs until 2023, at around the £15m mark.

The 28-year-old is said to be keen to move to West Ham and enjoyed his loan deal at Fulham and a season in the Premier League.
Areola is claimed to earn £147,000 per week in France with another report claiming it is as much as £160,000 pr week.

Paris Saint-Germain have recently signed another keeper in the form of Gianluigi Donnarumma meaning the Ligue 1 side now have nine first-team stoppers.

Areola now finds himself further down the pecking order so is desperate to find a new club.

Maybe a loan with an obligation to buy is the compromise to satisfy both parties.

  1. What’s that Frank Sinatre song–High Hope’s! We had high Hope’s !its west ham should have known better .starting to think it’s going to be a disastrous transfer window.no one signed yet and must hope some of the names mentioned are not so.

  2. I agree that a GK should be a priority this summer and I like Areola but £8million a year in wages?! Really?! Plus (I’m assuming) a hefty loan fee…. Surely we would be better to make a sensible offer for West Brom’s Sam Johnstone and use up our loan options elsewhere…..

    • I am with you. A lot of money for someone to play in behind of one of the best defences in the EPL. I really like Johnstone as he is both a good stopper and a smart keeper.

  3. PSG just trying to free up some payroll expenditures, after committing huge deal to Donarumma, of course they’re going to push for a transfer fee, reality is they’ve shown their hand already, Aerola is moving for sure, Hammers play with a poker face for now. If the market is closed or limited on the player it strengthens our hand!

  4. We ain’t signing anyone are we.

  5. I thought we would’ve signed at least 1 big name signing by now. A lot of hot air going around in more ways than one. Everybody’s poker faced atm. Just under 4 weeks till kick off. Hmmmmm
