Keeper howler does not make a good watch ahead of Hammers deal

Image for Keeper howler does not make a good watch ahead of Hammers deal

Everyone makes mistakes, it is part of being human. When professional footballers do it, the main problem is someone usually captures it on camera and shares it to the world: As happened with James Ward-Prowse’s diving on the ball red card moment last season whilst on loan to Nottingham Forest. “To err is human”.

Having your mistakes captured for posterity is only really a problem if you are the subject of multi million pound negotiations between your present and prospective future employer.

West Ham reportedly have an offer in for Botofago’s goal keeper John Victor who seems to be the €10 million signing designate for West Ham’s between the sticks vacancy. Rolling around the internet last night was a very unfortunate video of a Victor howler from Botofago’s latest home game which is enough to make the sturdiest supporter cough into his corn flakes this morning.

(Grateful to @ West Ham Central for the original post notification on twitter)

Botofago went on to lose the home encounter two – nil. Now I’m sure for every ‘blooper’ there’s a whole ‘save gallery’ for our appreciation but the timing of John Victor’s ‘throwing the ball back to the opposition who then score’ brain fart along with the slightly limp lettuce attempt to dive and gather the ball at the feet of the attacking opponent doesn’t look good, does it.

On the other hand, it seems he’ll fit right in. Anybody got Mads Hermansen’s agent’s contact details?

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days - sometimes- have to admit I have not renewed my season ticket... I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970..
Favourite player - Dean Ashton: Still watch YouTube repeats of the Cup Final of 2006 hoping in vain that Shaka Hislop grows six inches and stops Steven Gerrard's injury time equaliser. Can tell I'm getting old knowing I saw both Mark Noble's debut and his last game at West Ham.
Pulling on a Claret and Blue replica shirt still makes me feel the same butterflies as when I was seven years old. Magic.

Showing one mistake, can’t go by that! Is Bowen rubbish after his couple of errors last night against Bournemouth? Just saying!

Skimp on a goalkeeper at your peril. It’s the most important position on the pitch. If Victor was good enough, at 29 he’d be playing in a top European League already. All top European sides have scouts in Brazil. So either he is a brilliant keeper who has flown under the radar for the past ten years, or he simply isn’t good enough.

Toughest position on the pitch. And everyone’s an expert.

    Who’d be a goalkeeper?

He’s cheap so suits Sullivan who has no idea about keepers . The truth is we should buy Hermansen who is PL quality and will improve us . Instead Sullivan wants to go cheap and get a keeper not as good but as long as they’re cheap it suits him. No matter about improving the squad DS

No please no…not another clown. We need to get Mads.

    Was it that bad ?

The players were running away from goal, looks like he threw it too hard and it was intercepted.

Even then there was a lot to do to turn that into a goal and they did.

Every keeper makes mistakes, in order to turn defence into attack you need to move while the team is trying to reset, unlike Moyes and Floppy’s hold onto it and wait till everyone is set before releasing the ball.

From what I have read his distribution is generally excellent including lots of long range passes Ederson style, can’t verify that through evidence but it has been reported by other fan sites.

At the price it seems to be a no brainer and if we get Mads or Suzuki as well we are spreading our bets.

Big mistake buying Mr Victor. I only hope the links with him are to get Leicester to lower the price for Mads. Let’s hope.
