Keeper set to join Hammers on free transfer

Son of former Hammer Alvin Martin,  David Martin looks set to join West Ham on a free transfer on 1st July.

The 33-year-old who is currently with Millwall has a contract that expires on 30th June and he is likely.

Earlier this month Millwall announced their keeper had been having been offered fresh terms although hinting he was perhaps searching for a new club.

Despite his West Ham connections, the Romford born player started his career as a youth-team player with Spurs where he originally played as defender. He moved to Wimbledon in 2003, shortly before the club relocated to Milton Keynes in September of that year. After the club was reformed as Milton Keynes Dons in June 2004, Martin made his debut in 2004 and went on to make 25 appearances for the club, including 15 league appearances to January 2006.

After a successful trial period, he signed for Liverpool on 12 January 2006 but never got a senior team appearance.

After a number of loans Martin signed for former club Milton Keynes Dons in 2010.

In April 2017, after nine seasons and 339 appearances for the club, Martin announced that he would be leaving MK Dons at the end of the 2016–17 season. He signed for newly promoted Championship side Millwall on 1 September 2017.

It is reported that David Martin will join the Hammers as a third choice keeper for next season.
