Thilo Kehrer is sure the Hammers team will adapt to there being no claret and blue fans in the stadium tomorrow evening (Thurs).
The German grew up in the Freiburg area and looks likely to be involved in the game and whilst he believes it would have been a big help to have had fans he doesn’t feel the squad will find it a handicap they can’t overcome.
Speaking at the presser this evening he explained he knew the opposition pretty well saying that he had grown up not far away and that the club was one that grew from within.
He added that they have a good, disciplined structure that is very good for the young, Academy players in the region.
And he said that they had a clear identity after having a few consecutive years of playing in the upper tiers of the Bundesliga and in Europe too.”
He added: “Having our fans with us and supporting us, especially on away games, it always gives you a little extra boost.
Playing away means the majority of the fans are against you [in the stadium] and not having our fans tomorrow is unfortunate for us, but we have to be professional and adapt to the situation.
“We’ve all played during the pandemic, when there were no fans at all, and we adapted to that. We need to do the same in this game.”
