West Ham United’s trip to the Etihad Stadium this Sunday carries extra significance as it marks the final game of David Moyes‘ second spell in charge of the Hammers. Former Premier League defender Martin Keown believes Moyes will be determined to end his tenure with a memorable performance against title-chasing Manchester City.
Keown, writing in the Daily Mail, expects Moyes to be driven by a desire to avoid his farewell being overshadowed by the dramatic Premier League title race. While City need a win to secure the championship, West Ham will be aiming to spoil the party and send their departing manager out on a high.
However, West Ham’s recent form presents a significant challenge. The Hammers have managed just five wins in 24 games across all competitions in 2024, with a leaky defence conceding five or more goals on several occasions. Their away form has been particularly concerning, with heavy defeats on the road.
Despite the odds stacked against them, Keown suggests Moyes will be focused on inspiring a more resilient display from his players. A strong West Ham performance could potentially have a major impact on the title race, with Arsenal hoping for a City slip-up to reignite their own championship aspirations.
This afternoons clash promises to be a captivating encounter, with more than just three points at stake. West Ham will be aiming to honour their departing manager with a positive result, while Manchester City chase a historic fourth consecutive Premier League title.
Mr. Moyes wrote his concession speech last week. All that is needed is for us to lose and the manager with the most EPL losses notches another.
Going fishing
Keown shows his lack of football knowledge again he must be the worst “Expert” of them all! And that’s saying something!
Bowen out as well, oh well we’ll stay in ninth place! But Arsenal will be second!!!!
Come on City….Blue mooooon.
Anyone except Arsenal
Man city winning at half-time, west ham win at full time , down the bookies now to put £1 on it
Ings scores in the 87th minute …. HAMMERS lose 6-1
Anything less than 4 – nil will be a miracle!
What an idiot. Pep must be delighted to be playing the Hammers in deciding the title race. The hammers are so predictable with Moyes lack of tactical ability. A team that so often lacks concentration for the full 90 minutes especially directly from the start , just before half time and directly start of the second half, not to mentiion the amount of goals they concede towards the end of the game.
