West Ham could potentially face some unwanted attention in one of our a key players this week, with reports suggesting that Emerson may be on the verge of a move to Turkey. The Italian left-back has been crucial for the Irons since signing from Chelsea for £13m.

However, Turkish giants Galatasaray are reportedly interested in signing Emerson after their attempts to secure Aston Villa’s Lucas Digne fell through. With Galatasaray already securing a high-profile signing in Victor Osimhen, they are now focused on bolstering their left-back position before the Turkish transfer window closes.

Despite the rumours, it seems highly unlikely that West Ham would entertain offers for Emerson. The club is unable to bring in a replacement, and their only alternative at left-back is the aging Aaron Cresswell. The only scenario in which a deal could occur is if Galatasaray were to offer an astronomical fee, or if Emerson actively pushed for the move, neither of which seem probable at this stage.

I guess you can’t blame a club for trying and I’m not overly concerned that West Ham are about to lose a key player. However, it does demonstrate that the system is far from ideal when some leagues can trade players while other can’t.
