Kretinsky earns massive windfall

Daniel Kretinsky has seen a significant £220 million increase in his wealth due to surging energy prices. However, despite being listed by Forbes as having a wealth exceeding $9 billion dollars, it’s unlikely that this recent windfall will lead to extravagant spending by the Hammers.

Kretinsky holds stakes in various companies such as Royal Mail, Foot Locker and Sainsbury’s, but the majority of his wealth stems from his involvement in the energy sector. He has now received a £220 million boost from the substantial profits reaped due to the high energy prices. This has come as a great source of comfort, as I sit under my duvet for warmth whilst typing this blog.

Kretinsky earns massive windfall following an increase in energy prices.

The Czech businessman has overseen a sizeable increase in profits at his company Energeticky a prumyslovy holding (EPH), with earnings soaring to £1.7 billion in the first six months of 2023, up from £1.1 billion the previous year.

However, it’s improbable that this windfall will be injected into West Ham. Reports from a reliable source at the club indicated to Claret & Hugh that West Ham would have no funds available for spending in January. This contrasts with football finance specialist Kieran Maguire’s recent statement on Hammers Chat, suggesting that “West Ham are cash rich.”
