Kudus and Paqueta the heroes again
It’s early days in his Hammers career but I am already starting to run out of words for Mohammad Kudus who quite frankly is a magnificent footballer. And how ironic that the big question he should ask Tim Steidten before signing whether he would get into the team given Lucas Paqueta’s presence. The answer was a most emphatic yes and now we are seeing why.
Today the No 14 scored two more goals to take his tally to nine in 20 goals and the quality of his strikes was something else. That the assists were provided by Paqueta was no surprise and Claret and Hugh associate editor Gonzo was spot on in awarding both players 1os in the player ratings. One only has to remember his two crosses at the climax of the late Burnley victory to understand that Kudus’ assists are the equal of his goals. In simple language this is one hell of a player.
Creative Genius Paqueta
Paqueta is equally wonderful to watch with the work rate of both defying the belief that creative players are merely that – creative. Paqueta in forever tracking back whilst Kudus is almost impossible to shake off the ball when he is in full flight, which is a great deal of the time.
A word too for Bowen’s incredibly good goal which was fired home across the Wolves keeper into the far corner from his favoured right side. If things go on the way they have over the last 180 minutes some of us might be having to eat some humble pie and most of that will be down to these magnificent players who have brought a new perspective to this club of ours. And let’s remember they can only get better!
