Kudus now on rivals radar as vultures circle

The past week has seen numerous stories emerge of players and staff contemplating leaving West Ham following the 6-0 loss to Arsenal. Whilst a heavy defeat would typically be viewed in isolation, this marks The Hammers’ third thrashing of the season, prompting fans to leave early and even consider not renewing season tickets.

Director of Football Tim Steidten’s subtle hints of a potential departure, coupled with Lucas Paqueta’s desire to leave, have further soured the atmosphere surrounding West Ham. Adding to the tension is the news that some of the club’s rivals are eyeing Mohammed Kudus.

Chelsea and Arsenal have been particularly impressed with Kudus’ performances at West Ham and are dreading summer approaches for the versatile forward.

Kudus, who arrived from Ajax in a £38m deal last summer, has quickly become key player at the London Stadium, scoring 10 goals in 21 starts across all competitions.

His consistent displays have garnered attention across the Premier League, with both London neighbours Arsenal and Chelsea expressing interest in acquiring the 23-year-old. Chelsea had been linked with Kudus last summer but diverted their focus to Manchester City’s Cole Palmer instead.

Nevertheless, interest in Kudus persists, especially as Chelsea’s attacking recruits Mykhailo Mudryk and Noni Madueke have failed to impress in west London. Kudus’ ability to perform in various attacking roles is particularly appealing to Mauricio Pochettino and his recruitment team.

If players are unhappy with David Moyes then they are more likely to seek pastures new. If we were to replace him with a more forward thinking manager/coach who prefers to play on the front foot with attractive football rather than negative football then we may be able to hold on to our best players. And the fans would be happier!

I’m afraid it’s a fact of life that when and if a club finds a little gem, like Paqueta,Kudus,Bowen, then the money teams will come sniffing around to try and pinch them.It then comes down to whether the player will honour his contract or whether his club want to cash in.The smaller clubs will cash in to survive and the bigger clubs will get bigger.Which is what makes the Premiership an uneven playing field.
