Mohammed Kudus is reportedly available for sale at £100m in the January transfer window, with Manchester City, according to Fichajes, considering a lowball £66.5m offer to tempt West Ham. The Ghanaian international has an £85m release clause that activates in the summer, but with limited transfer funds, the Hammers must sell before they can buy—prioritising a striker above all else.
To sweeten the deal, City could include James McAtee, either on loan or as a permanent transfer.
The 22-year-old has only played 333 minutes this season but is highly rated and versatile, capable of operating in midfield or on the wing. With 16 caps for the England U-21 team, McAtee spent the last two seasons on loan at Sheffield United.
McAtee has two years remaining on his contract and is eager for more first-team football, making a move to the London Stadium potentially appealing.
Previously linked to Lucas Paquetá, City view Kudus as an “exceptional” attacking threat, according to Pep Guardiola. Kudus could help revitalise a side that has won just one of its last 12 matches.
A deal for Kudus would free up cash for West Ham to pursue a much-needed striker, with only Niclas Füllkrug and Danny Ings currently available. Tim Steidten could intensify efforts to sign key targets like Igor Jesus, valued at £30m by Botafogo, or Corinthians forward Yuri Alberto.
Despite a glowing post-match interview after his goal in the 1-1 draw against Brighton, Kudus may find the allure of Manchester City irresistible. However, the deal hinges on the offer being right and whether West Ham can reinvest sensibly.
City may need to act fast, as Liverpool and Barcelona are also rumoured to be interested.
Claret & Hugh can confirm that, despite reports, no formal bid has been received yet.
And if this deal was to actually happen with Man City, would James McAtee turn out to be a Cole Palmer type success or a Kalvin Phillips type disaster?
Anyway, I think Pongo is probably right in his post when he says that no top player will want to join City right now because their judgement day is coming. Who knows which league they might be relegated to?
.. City are finished…Guardiola signed a two year deal for the payoff….If Kudus goes in January.. Arsenal will probably pay £100m….If not summer it will be.
The annoying thing about “starboy” is he hits a bit of form just before the transfer window…A lazy player for me … Undoubtedly talented.. Blessed with skill and pace … When he wants to use it…. Todibo is another one you can see he has talent but just doesn’t want to be there…. Unfortunately the players that are grafting are being sucked into the same mindset….A new manager would sort this out.
No top player is going to join man city, as everybody and his dog knows man city are going to be relegated and stripped of all titles for breaking over120 of financial rules, the pressure is really on them which is why they can’t win a game as they already know what’s coming after there hearing which concluded recently. And that shod also be sending alarm bells in the direction of Newcastle and Chelsea. Bye bye city adious you won’t ne missed. Pep will leave city sooner than you think, as soon as the transfer embargo is placed upon them
Great point
Any chance you could just report on factual articles instead of made up rumours that some will believe and write the usual hysterical replies
the club is a “joke” etc
Probably easier for you to get your news somewhere else rather than a whole website tailoring things just how you like them.
The club website will report the actual news which was the 1-1 draw against Brighton. We’ll cover everything West Ham that we believe is interesting or relevant.
It’s odd though. . .if you dislike a restaurant, do you scream through the window until they change the menu or eat somewhere else?
Anyway, there are plenty of other West Ham sites so go and read them.
Relax Gonzo. Happy Christmas to you and all at C&H. Three points from Southampton game on Boxing Day will go a long way tom sweetening everyone’s mood.
Keep up the good work!!
