Kudus transfer reports wide of the mark

Press reports suggesting that Liverpool are about to trigger Mohammed Kudus’s release clause are completely off the mark.

In an exclusive from Ghana Soccer Net, it’s claimed that Liverpool will sign Kudus this summer. The report states that ‘first contacts’ have already been made, and the Reds intend to move ahead with the deal.

The report suggests that Liverpool have been interested in Kudus since last summer and are now ready to compete with the likes of Real Madrid and Manchester City. Incoming manager Arne Slot is said to rate the West Ham attacking midfielder highly.

However, this report contradicts the news that Claret & Hugh broke this week following an initial report from Athletic journalist David Ornstein. Our top source confirmed on Tuesday that Kudus’s buyout clause is indeed £85 million and was requested by the player as a condition of his transfer from Ajax to West Ham.

However, this clause is only active for a single window in the summer of 2025, meaning it cannot be triggered this summer.

Technically, Liverpool can still bid for Kudus, but it will cost them considerably more than £85 million if they wish to tempt West Ham into selling. They would certainly have to break the British transfer record.

The lazyness of the football media . Takes a hell of a lot of beating . Kudas is staying. So is Bowen . Alvarez likewise . I suspect pacqueta is as well . This is the start of the steitden project. And there’s no way on earth lopetegui is taking the job unless the money for players is absolutely huge . As Sullivan knows he can’t fob JL off as wolves found out .

blah blah blah BLEHHH…..Pac will be gone BOWEN to who ever for £££££££££££’s Lop sacked before he starts and Moyes will come back with the guarantee of Steidtens sacking and Bradys to.Sullivan will move the club to Charlton and groundshare for half what we are paying at the BOM and the club Logo of crossed hammers to be changed to fly swatters as the climates warming and ship buildings a thing of the past…..more breaking news to come in around ten seconds so look out for it!

A season before they would be able to activate the clause, by then a deal would have been done to get rid of it.

    A British transfer record 😂

That’s quite possibly correct / incorrect. As I understand it, buyout clause is £85 million, but my sources say it isn’t active for one summer. The buyout clause only becomes active in next summer’s transfer window, as in 2025 and once it is active, it stays active. I’d check your sources again to confirm.
