Kudus
Kudus v Benny… no comparison
By Hughie Southon
Mo Kudus proved something else in the Newcastle United game other than he is a player who is going to be very big for us over the next few seasons.
He and Said Benrahma were sent on as subs at the same time and thus it was possible to make a direct comparison between the pair of them,
The reality: There was none!
Kudus is a very good footballer of whom it is clear that here is a guy who can regularly impact matches and his 88th minute goal was a superb effort.
Ahead of that he had shown that he could hustle, bustle and make life more than a little awkward for defenders despite only being on the pitch less than an hour.
Kudus and the same old Benny
Benny, meanwhile, was the same old Benny – missing one great chance near the end by failing to get the merest touch in front of goal and generally frustrating with those runs which have little or nothing at the end of them.
It showed again that we are a club moving in a newer and higher direction than at any time in many previous years.
The likes of Paqueta, Kudus and JWP make it so …is there really a place for Said at this club any longer?
When one remembers the former Brentford player cost £30 million and Kudus Ajax not a great deal more, it demonstrates the brilliant business West Ham are doing
I’m not convinced the club will actively attempt to sell Benny in January but should they receive offers I’m sure they will consider them.
I can see Bennie being sold in January to a struggling EPL club, or an aspiring Championship club who feel his creativity would work for them. We have Max Cornet as an alternative on the left if we need it.
I can also see Pablo going too, which would be a shame, but he hasn’t kicked on. Combined we’d presumably net around £40m…?
