Lacazette and Bacca reports met with amusement

LacazetteReports in French newspaper L’Equipe that West Ham have made a fresh bid of  £42.7m for Alexandre Lacazette has been met with some amusement inside the Hammers  camp.

Talk of a Friday deadline for Carlos Bacca from West Ham has also been met with equal bewilderment by Irons insiders.

Football agent Sergio Barila has been speaking out his client’s future, but refused to be drawn into discussions about Bacca or where he would end up this season.  He told Tutto Mercato Web“A Friday deadline for West Ham? I can’t talk about it, let’s wait and see what happens.”

CarlosWest Ham has ended all interest in Bacca following the signing of Andre Ayew and no new significant transfers are expected at West Ham this summer with the exception of Jonathan Calleri after the Olympics unless a player leaves of a similar wage structure to any incoming player.

Yesterday West Ham also denied stories  they are pursuing Lyon’s Algerian winger Rachid Ghezzal.

According to L’Equipe Lyon president Aulas said:  “We have received offers for him from West Ham.I know Rachid doesn’t want to leave Lyon so we have to find an agreement, as this situation is neither good for him nor for the club.”

bes2But our top source inside The London Stadium categorically denied any bid for the player saying: “They will have their own reasons for putting out such a story but there has been no bid from West Ham United. I think most would agree we have enough wingers!”
This morning Italian media have reported West Ham are interested in signing Napoli’s Lorenzo Insigne. I am sure we are going to be linked to another 50 players between now and the close the transfer window but the truth of the matter is our main transfer business is now done and only a bargain buy or a loan gamble will tempt us into the market again.

  1. I will only be satisfied that our transfer business is done, when I see a West Ham shirt on Calleri’s back!

  2. Really? If nothing else we need a right back. Antonio is wasted there and he’s not particularly good in that position anyway. He’s already stated that he doesn’t want to play there either. A right back and young Calleri and that’ll do for me.

  3. Still missing a fox in the box player that the club stated it was after, which would have really put the cat amongst the pigeons; and there is still plenty of money there, very little has been spent. Carrol is not a 20 a season player never has been, so that and a right back for me would have made the difference between a good transfer window and a signal of real intent one.

  4. Sak staying then ?
Worse news is Slav still thinks Antonio is a right back,
If we go to Chelski with him at RB we will start the season on the back foot,
If he is being forced to play him there because of instructions on transfer saga,it’s because he does not rate Byram,
Byram has proved at left back he is better then Antonio,
You can’t betray yourself by playing players out of position because others are better then you in your genuine place,
Swansea showed last year how bad our defence can be if we carry on down that road,
Reid makes the right side week as it is,
Novedt or Burke must start alongside Byram

  5. Calleri will be back soon…Argentina is out on the Olimpics..he’s the real deal.

  6. Norvedt best position for me bubs is sitting just in front of the four ! He’s a grafter there and we need a player like him to dominate ! Burke needs to go out on loan there’s no need to break him in yet he is not ready for me , we needed a c/h and another right back with byrum . Ashley Williams went for 12 mill to Everton ? Read position solved . Read is great on his day but far and few between ?
We are all waiting to see the team sheet for Monday , we will get the answers then ? Maybe.
I think Slav will get it right , I trust him completely !

  7. Fingers crossed that they get the Calleri deal over the line soon.

I just can’t believe how frustrating our RB situation is and has been in recent seasons. I hope Byram gets a good run at RB but even if he does then wouldn’t it make sense to bring in back up. Gaaaaaad West Ham.

I can’t even remember who our last proper established RB was. Rufus Brevett? Repka? Steve Potts? Can anyone remember?

    • Breaker , Stewart . To name a couple ? But get you’re point ?

      • I don’t whinge much but I can’t see how the club can look to spend a crazy amount up top and seemingly not even consider the Right Back position. We’ve some good defensive players but only Byram in the senior squad can play there.

Burke and Oxford could probably fill in there. Antonio can do a job but when he bombs forward we need the Centre Halves and Left Back to form a back three.

Would be a shame if that one position is our undoing.

    • John paintsil

  8. I think we still need a right back before the transfer market closes.

  9. We could do a lot worse than play Antonio up front if needed !! – He has the power and speed and knows where the goal is !! – If memory serves me well did not a certain Geoff Hurst play in defence at first for West Ham ??

  10. Yes he did iron ! C/h ! Greenwood saw something different ? .

  11. Bilic said there might be one more signing, DS loves a bargain also so possibly late in the window maybe some loans might be available…
