Lanzini and Scamacca star in fine Irons win

Udinese 1 Hammers 3

by Hughie Southon

A magical Manu Lanzini strike from 25 yards was the Hammers highlight as we scored a very good win over the Italians.

The boys had been forced to come from behind after Roberto Pereyra had given his team the lead early on but we struck back on the stroke of half time.

Quick thinking from the impressive Scamacca allowed Bowen to cross from right to left where Benraham side footed home.

Lanzini fired home a fabulous thunderbolt of a shot in the second half after the Hammers mounted a big attack and the ball was finally cleared where he picked iy up[ to fire home.

And almost on full time Antonio was on hand to stab home a third after Bowen’s shot hit the base of the post .

This was a very decent performance from the Irons who after weathering some early first and second half pressure showed real grit and class to earn the victory.

Going from the back Coufal showed himself to be in decent form and Emerson did well as Cresswell’s replacement.

Soucek was looking good on his return whilst Benny was particularly bright in the first half. Scamacca really did look the part after a poor game at Cambridge United whilst Bowen looked at his sharpest

But Scamacca may have edged it as man of the match with his movement, quick thinking and clever passing.

However, without question it was Lanzini’s goal which will be remembered from a very lively game.
