Lanzini: Nobody talks to me

|

By Gonzo

Football London have quoted Manuel Lanzini, who has suggested that ‘nobody’ at West Ham United has spoken with him about his future ahead, of his contract expiring this June.

The Hammers have a number of players due to become free agents in the summer with Lanzini, Cresswell, Coufal, Fabianski and Ogbonna. It is also worth noting that defender Ben Johnson’s deal is running down but the club retain an option to extend.

The Irons are yet to offer new terms to Lanzini, and it had been widely assumed that he’s return to Argentina to play for former club River Plate.

Just like Johnson, West Ham have the option to extend Lanzini’s existing contract by a further two years. David Sullivan agreed the extension clause with the long time Hammers servant when he last signed a new deal in August 2019. But the diminutive playmaker has featured infrequently for David Moyes this season.

Lanzini was quoted as saying, “Nobody talks with me but we will see what happens in the summer.”

This would indicate the player was open to remaining at the club. Personally I’d love to see him stay at the club, he’s one of the few players who is truly comfortable with the ball and he’s been unlucky to to have been afforded more opportunity given the teams poor results.

Many is a great guy and a lovely balanced footballer. Look at his run and lay off to Scamacca for the first goal on Thursday night. Yet typically, he doesn’t fit with Moyes. We should be ensuring we keep him at 30 and playing him regularly. Once again Moyes man management is poor. Look after people, stop losing talent, stop playing men out of position. Drop Soucek and play creative players. Stroll on I dread to think what he would have done to the ’86 team!!! Think about it for a minute. Meanwhile, let’s enjoy Manu, we may have only a couple of games max before Moyes axes him permanently.
