Lanzini update

Manu Lanzini’s hopes of making his first team return in January have been put on hold!

Although the midfielder is making decent progress it is unlikely he will be back in first team action until February at the very earliest.

Lanzini is recovering from a World Cup training ground incident when he suffered a  a torn anterior cruciate ligament injury in his right knee whilst training with his national team.

After surgery and a return to the Hammers training ground at Rush Green he was optimistic that he could be back by January but the medics insist that the healing process may take a month or two longer.

We were told during a telephone conversation with a top London Stadium source close to the medical team: “It was an awful injury which at one time looked likely to keep him out for the season and that we are talking of a return this season is remarkable in itself and a tribute to Manu.

However, February or possibly March or April is a more realistic assessment.”

  1. I would be amazed if Lanzini plays this season as in Australian Rules Football (AFL) a torn anterior cruciate ligament injury is normally a 12 month rehab.
