Last game at Boleyn could be moved to Monday

12110_ori_boleyn_ground_upton_park_The last ever Premier League game to played at the Boleyn Ground could be moved to a Monday night West Ham chairman David Gold confirmed last night.

Sky Sports who own the UK broadcast rights together with BT have the ability to move the 3pm Saturday match on 7th May against Swansea to Monday 9th May although Sunday 8th May would more sense is probably more likely.

West Ham fan Ian Walker asked the chairman “Hi Chairman, planning travel for Swansea game can you promise club won’t allow switch to Monday for TV”

Gold replied on twitter “The club can’t switch the day it plays, only Sky can, as we are contracted to do so. dg”

The news will disappoint many Hammers fans wanting to advance book hotels or travel. As you imagine Sky are almost odds on to want to screen this historic game to their customers.  Let’s hope Sky make an early decision so fans can plan accordingly.

  1. Surely not even Sky would be that heartless. We’re all going to want to spend as much time as we can in the old place before we have to say goodbye, which is a lot easier if the game doesn’t finish at 10pm and we all have to go to work the following dayp
