Late Lingard deal update

Late suggestions that West Ham could swoop to sign Jesse Lingard before the transfer deadline are wrong.

Sources at the Hammers have told us that there’s next to no hope of the club actually being able to secure a deal to bring the Manchester United man back to the club in this transfer window.

Newcastle are instead at the front of the queue if Lingard does leave United, and it would take a major change of heart from both the Old Trafford club and the England international for a deal to be struck late on.

West Ham are currently focusing their attentions on signing a striker amid links with Benfica’s Darwin Nunez, meaning there isn’t likely to be a late rush to beat Newcastle to the punch.

David Moyes would also like to sign a centre-back prior to the window closing but it remains to be seen if the Hammers will be able to get such a deal over the line.

  1. Now that Greenwood has been suspended there might be a space for Lingard ?

  2. Given that in every transfer window we are informed from all over the media it seems, that every player in the world is having discussions with us, or that we are almost signing someone, i’m only surprised Sir Geoffs name , Puffer to us oldies, is not among them.
Lingard would be a great signing but as you say probably won’t.
If he goes to Newcastle it will show us he really hasnt any driving ambition to improve himself, that to him Man U was all about being at the club, and that he used us as a chance to showcase his skills for staying at Man U. Bad luck for him it didn’t work. Still he now wont be short of a few bob but by the time Newcastle win anything he will be past it. So much for the footballing mantra, “it’s all about trophies”.
