Latest Lingard report makes no sense whatsoever

|

The latest report concerning Jesse Lingard’s future – this time from the Daily Star – makes no sense whatsoever!

The tabloid suggests that Manchester United are ready to give him what amounts to a massive pay rise which is  no way in line with the valuation they claim has been put on his head by the Old Trafford club.

They apparently believe he is a £25 million player should he be sold whilst at the same time  apparently offering him a new deal worth £130k a week – around £50k more than he currently earns and amounting to around £18 million over three years.

Players wages always rise or fall in line with the transfer fee being sought or accepted and £25 million represents a wage of around £80-£90 million which is where the 28 year old stands at the moment.

The other flaw in the story is that it’s well known that no talks will start until the Euros are completed anyway although no doubt agents will be keen to crank up what they see as pressure by perhaps  planting such a yarn.

In reality the tale makes no sense!

Also tired like John said move on forget the greed of players and agents let lingard stay at manure and get Pereira in as quickly as possible . As for comments on out budget being small I think 85mill plus sales of hopefully yarmo and Anderson and Reid plus the added money of Grady and haller should be ok getting in what we certainly need keeper left back centre back mid defender and two strikers one certainly top class and a back up maybe or let Antonio be the back up with one top striker coming in only as getting Pereira in will be getting goals and assists galore . Maybe Moyes wakes up quickly this time ? And sully backs him .

Lingard fell of a cliff the last 5 games. The hungry Jessie can be great but needs to concentrate on football. I like the Hungary C.F & C.B at Euros Im not sure how much we have to spend but why do we keep buying talent for the future (Alves) then looking for new players ? We need centre midfield cover, C.F and CB Massuaku can cover L.B if fit. Allowing Cress to go to left sided C.B.

The Star, The Sun, The Mirror, The Guardian, The Independent, et al all employ people, making up stories because there is so little football news outside of the Euros.
Every season some childish West Ham fans go into panic mode because we have not signed anyone. Player contracts run to 30th June and so very little activity ever takes place until 1st July when a clutch of free-agents generally acts as a trigger to other transfers. We need three or four players and I guess we have only a smallish budget Let’s put our trust in David Moyes to find more excellent good value, ‘under the radar’ players, rather than breaking the bank on just one or two. Some of the names mentioned, such as Abraham, would use up most of it and I’m not so sure he would suit our style of play. Also, unless a Lingard decision is made soon, we should move on from him as well.

Bored with the whole thing. I agree if hes trying to stay at manu. Move on now. Was good .but that’s all good. Not worth the hassle.

100% we should move on, we cannot be that naive to be waiting for a decision from a player, if he really wanted to join he would have said so at this stage. His performances were excellent for us and I would be happy if he signed but over the last 6 games his performances were no where near the level so I am happy either way but at this stage we need to move on. .

For pity sake, let’s move on with this drivel.. Getting tiresome imho… If he doesn’t sign, move on… Seen some pretty useful players in the Euro’s and not nearly as expensive as Lingard.. He was a boost for us, but no doubt his performances tailed off somewhat towards the end of the season…

Agreed. I believe that we are fed stories like this where we supporters become fixated and get to thinking there is only one way.
We should by now understand that Moyes is a creative manager with many plans and options across the squad. Finding solutions to problems is Moyes’s forte, something he enjoys and what he’s good at. There can be no doubt that he would like to acquire Lingard, but I’m sure that he isn’t the type to get stuck on a player with the profile of Lingard where there is a myriad of issues to be resolved. Moyes understands the world of agents and posturing very well and has been dealing with these problems for years.
Let’s not forget that Moyes has full control of our transfer policy and is a Very Canny Scot.
