Lawro sets nerves jangling

Bogey team or not, Mark Lawrenson will set nerves jangling by predicting a Hammers win against Brighton tomorrow night.

He appears to come to all the right conclusions and that is worrying given his past record but fingers crossed we can rely on him for once.

Brighton arrive as a team where in the normal course of events one would expect a win and I personally am going for a 1-0 anyway.

But with a desperately poor run of results behind them that becomes even more the case – sadly football isn’t great at throwing up the predictable however.

In fairness to him however, the pundit appears to have few doubts about the outcome and is going for a win that would see up keep up our top of the table challenge.

One thing is for sure, however, we are going to need to be a lot better than we were at Molineux for example.

Commenting in his BBC website column Lawrenson said: “It’s now eight games since Brighton won in the league but they have drawn six of those and are still in the top half of the table.

They created loads of chances against Leeds on Saturday so it was pathetic for some Seagulls fans to boo them off after that game finished 0-0.

West Ham need a win too – they played well at Manchester City on Sunday but slipped to a second successive defeat. They are at home, and I think they will get one.

Lawro’s prediction: 2-0
